Nextbase Launches Two New Dash Cams
Nextbase, one of the UK’s leading dash cam manufacturers, has just launched a pair of new dash cams that add to an already solid range.
One of the main problems consumers face when deciding on purchasing a dash cam, is whether or not to fit just one dash cam to the front windscreen of their car, or a second dash cam at the rear of the vehicle. It’s not only the cost that can be the deciding factor, but also the fitting implications that can cause problems too.
The first of the these two cameras – the DUO, aims to combat this problem directly with both front and rear cameras fitted. The device costs £199.99, and is able to use a 720p HD 30 FPS camera with wide angle lens at the front, combined with a 50 metre zoom lens on the rear camera to ensure that it is able to capture all the action both in front and behind the vehicle.
The camera also makes playback easy for any motorist hoping to provide evidence in the event of an accident or motoring offence, allowing the user to playback front and rear footage simultaneously. One other notable feature of the DUO, is that it is able to detect and incident using a high quality GPS sensor and g-sensor, to ensure that footage is locked in securely in the event of an accident.
Richard Browning, director at Nextbase, commented on the DUO: “We are always asked about the rear of the car when we talk about dash cams, so we decided to build a compact device that can do both. The DUO is the only high-quality dash cam that is good enough to capture what is going on both to the front and rear when driving.“
For those motorists looking for a dash cam with the ultimate in image quality, Nextbase have also launched the 512-G model, boasting a number of firsts for both Nextbase and even the dash cam market to ensure excellent image capturing capability.
The new model, costing £179.99 is the only current dash cam to offer a new innovative polarising filter, which is designed to completely get rid of any windsreen glare and reflections, thus ensuring maximum visibility at all times. Not only this, but Nextbase have used an upgraded imaging sensor and 6 layer lens which means that motorists will no longer have to worry about missing the vital bit of footage due to light conditions.
Browning, also commented on the 512-G: “The 512-G signals a new generation of dash cam. We’ve listened to consumers who noted that crystal clear image quality on an in car camera is vital. Having added a host of new features to ensure that the 512-G stands head and shoulders above others in the market, we believe the 512-G will be the best dash cam on the market for some time to come.
“Glare and reflection can result in poor and distorted footage no matter how good your dash cam. But the polarising filter in the 512-G completely eradicates this problem completely – the first, and only dash cam in world to do so.”
With 29 of the UK’s major insurers now accepting dash cam footage as part of an insurance claim, the benefits of using a dash cam seem to be ever increasing. Furthermore, some insurance companies such as Swiftcover, now offer discounts of up to 12.5% for those motorists who decide to fit a dash cam to their vehicle.
Both models are available from Halfords online and in store from the 20th July, with their “WeFit” service an optional extra if you would like your dash cam installed for you.
