The Third Round of the FA Cup is always an important weekend of football and this year is no exception with numerous stand out ties.

With all 20 Premier League sides in action only on Thursday, the majority of matches involving the top tier teams are on Sunday and Monday.

Four Premier League sides are in action on Saturday though, including the fixture between Leicester City and Newcastle United.

Both Swansea City and West Brom will looking to avoid shock defeats when they face Tranmere Rovers and Gateshead respectively.

Manchester United’s trip to League One side Yeovil Town is the stand out fixture on Sunday.

Louis van Gaal’s men were embarrassed by MK Dons in the Capital One Cup earlier in the season, however enter Sunday’s fixture in much better form.

Yeovil themselves are bottom of League One and the possibility of back to back relegations is very real.

Non league Dover Athletic host Crystal Palace, who will hope to have Alan Pardew in place as manager before the match.

Sunderland host Leeds United in a repeat of the famous 1973 final, whilst Manchester City entertain Sheffield Wednesday, after the pair also met in the Capital One Cup.

The original Wimbledon famously stunned Liverpool in the 1988 FA Cup final and AFC Wimbledon will have the chance to do the same on Monday.

Liverpool were knocked out of the competition by Oldham Athletic in recent years and they are again a huge scalp this year.

Non league Blyth Spartans entertain Birmingham City on Saturday, whilst Wrexham travel to face the Premier League outfit Stoke City.
