Today I’m sharing 15 reasons why I store Borax for everyday use. Borax: We have all heard of 20 Mule Team Borax. I don’t know about you, but I grew up watching my mother wash our bed sheets and towels with it. So it is nothing new, but I thought I would share a few more ways for you to use it. This is a statement right off the 20 Mule Team Borax website and I quote:  “20 Mule Team® Borax is 100% natural, and 99.5% pure (there is about a half of 1% of naturally occurring trace minerals). Once removed from the ground it is washed, dried, and boxed for consumers.” 20 Mule Team Borax

Why I Store Borax

Here are a few of the ways I use 20 Mule Team Borax and why I store it:

1. Laundry Detergent:

I make my own laundry detergent with it. So I store several boxes of 20 Mule Team Borax. See my YouTube on how to make my laundry soap/detergent

2.  Clean Toilets:

I put 1/4 cup of it into the toilet, swish it around and let it sit overnight

3. 20 Mule Team Borax For Stain Remover:

Make a paste and rub it into a bad stain and then wash the item as usual

4. Softens Water:

It softens your water when added to your detergent-great for your laundry

5. Environmental Friendly:

Borax has zero toxic fumes and is safe for the environment. It is a naturally occurring alkaline mineral that was discovered over 4000 years ago. It is found mostly in the Western  United States as well as in the Tibet area of China. Borax can irritate the skin if applied directly, and of course, should not be ingested

6. 20 Mule Team Borax For Laundry:

Makes my clothes cleaner and brighter-I love the smell of fresh clean clothes

7. Disinfect and Deodorize:

Put one cup to a gallon of warm or hot water and clean garbage cans

8. Cockroaches/Ants:

Sprinkle where safe from children and pets, it keeps the roaches (and their bacteria) from going into your garage or shed

9. Floor/Wall Cleaner:

Mix 1/4 cup 20 Mule team Borax in one gallon of water and wash walls and floors (be sure and check your floor type to see if you can use it).

10. Urine On Mattresses:

Accidents happen we all know it, its life. Dampen the mattress with a little water, sprinkle borax over the stain and rub it into the stain. Let dry and vacuum.

11.  Liquid Scouring Powder:

I make my own liquid Comet or Ajax, I guess you could call it. Mix 1/4 cup borax, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1-1/2 cups HOT water. Use it to clean and refresh areas in your home

12. Shower Tile:

Mix 1/4 cup borax with one gallon of water and spray on your shower tile to remove that ugly “mold” between the tiles. Rinse and it sparkles

13. Safe For Septic Tanks

14. Safe For HE (High Efficiency) Washers

15. Inexpensive to buy:

You can buy it at your local grocery store, or even online. I must say it sells out where I live. Sometimes I cannot get it for weeks. It is very popular because people use it in so many different ways in their homes. It is usually located down the laundry detergent aisle.
