Today is a very special day in our house.  My amazing husband Chris is officially THIRTY.  I can’t believe I am writing that because it seems like yesterday he was 21 and we were meeting for the first time.  These past 9 years have been the best of my life and I have been so fortunate to have this man by my side through life’s crazy adventures.  We celebrated him all weekend long because a man like him deserves more than just one day.

Saturday night we had a babysitter so Chris and I could go out to dinner without the munchkins.  We decided to stay in town and go to our favorite local restaurant, Marker 107 where we sat on the deck and enjoyed some bubbly and quiet conversation.

It’s amazing how much time you get to talk when you are alone as a couple.  We got to enjoy our meal and chat without one of the littles needing something.  It was refreshing and left us both recharged.  We shared the to-die-for seafood bread bowl dip and then I enjoyed grilled scallops for my main dish.  After finishing our meal we met some of our friends at one of the pubs in town for a couple of beers and more pleasant conversation.  We also realized we are both definitely closer to 30 than 20 because we were T-I-R-E-D by 11:00PM.  Ha.

Sunday we did our usual chores and getting ready for the week gig but threw in some fun as well.  Emmalyne helped me out in the kitchen and we made Chris a triple chocolate cake.  If there’s one thing in the world Chris loves besides his girls it’s cake.  And this one did not disappoint.

We also showered him with gifts.  Since he took this entire week of work (yes I’m jealous) I booked him a massage for this morning.  I also realized I married my soul mate when he asked for an activity tracker for his birthday.  You better believe I obliged.

The rest of the day was spent finishing up our “to do” lists and watching our girls enjoy being sisters.  These two drive me crazy in the best ways but it turns me into MUSH when they play together.  Nothing gives me greater joy in this world than hearing their laughter.

I hope you had a great weekend and have a fantastic Monday!  For my American friends it’s THANKSGIVING week so hopefully you only have a few days of work before a long weekend off to enjoy your friends and family  I only have 2.5 days myself!
