Is anyone else kind of freaking out that it’s September?  Or is it just us?  Either way it’s here.  September always signifies then end of lazy summer days and the beginning of “busy season”  as we roll into Back to School, Thanksgiving, Halloween and then on to the big holiday season.  Not so mention… FBC2014 from October 17th – 19th!

FBC2014

Speaking of FBC2014, we’re very excited to announce that all of our pre-conference workshops have completely sold out!  If you were hoping to see Matt Armendariz and Adam Pearson in action, or listen to Dianne Jacob as she tackles some of the hot button issues in food writing today, you still can! All three of them will be presenting sessions during the general conference and tickets are still available.

We will also be announcing all of our speaker sessions and our session schedule very shortly so stay tuned.

What’s Coming in September

With back-to-school in the air we’re going to be introducing you to some new ways and resources to help you learn and be inspired to be better writers, photographers and bloggers this month.  It’s also our third birthday coming up in a few weeks and we’ll be making an announcement around that.  We’ve also got some members who are newly published so keep your eyes open for some book giveaways.  And of course, FBC2014 is coming up and there will be lots of pre-conference chatter and events coming up over the next month and a half.

Apple Week

We we completely blown away by the record number of submissions we received for our Apple Recipe Roundup over the last two weeks.  (over 50!)  The quality of submissions was also the best we’ve ever seen for any of our roundups so, we’ve decided to turn the week of September 15th into Apple Week.  We’ll be doing 5 roundups – one for each day of the week!  The recipes are fantastic and very pinworthy so you’ll definitely want to check them all out!

Fraser Valley Food Show – Media Accreditation Available (BC)

For those of you who are among our steadily increasing number of Fraser Valley bloggers in BC (as well as metro Vancouver bloggers), the Fraser Valley Food show, happening at the Tradex in Abbotsford from Oct 3-5, is now accepting applications for media accreditation from bloggers.  If you apply by September 15th, your media badge will be mailed to you.

For bloggers from Vancouver who wish to attend, the event is organizing shuttle transportation for those with media badges but are unable to drive to Abbotsford.  Some of the highlights this year include Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver Executive Chef Ned Bell heading up the celebrity chef stage (Chef Bell will also be looking after all our attendees at FBC2014!), the Gluten Free Living Expo and the Butcher Showcase Stage.  For more media information, check out their latest press release.
