This year, we had a thought regarding picking and choosing for Best of Philly — why should we get to have all the fun? So we invited the whole region to weigh in. Starting back in January, we put up a different poll each month at Phillymag.com and asked you to click for your favorites. Here’s how it all shook out.

Best Food Truck

Even if you close your eyes and try really hard, a Philly street corner will never be a Hawaiian beach, not even for a second. And yet somehow, the Big Island flavors coming from Poi Dog are transformative. Crispy chicken tacos with guava katsu sauce, tofu poke, Kona coffee mochi, ahh …

Best Chef

Quietly, without much fanfare, Chris Painter, who spent years as culinary director for Starr Restaurants before opening Il Pittore, has been stuffing, rolling and saucing thoughtful pasta dishes, garden-fresh apps and big-flavor entrées. 2025 Sansom Street, Rittenhouse, 215-391-4900.

Best Bar
Jose Pistola’s is about as down-to-earth as it gets, with good drink specials ($15 happy-hour marg pitchers), craft brews, a kitchen that’s open until 1 a.m., live music, and a come-as-you-are attitude. 263 South 15th Street, Center City, 215-545-4101.
