So I'm partially venting but I also want your guys' input as I'm new to shopping for a car without help from an expert.

Just to let you all know this is my first post on here after spending the last few weeks reading all up and down these forums. After todays' experience, I felt like I should share it. I am very much in the market to buy a FoST 2 or 3 within the next couple weeks or so. I spent a lot of time reading and watching reviews to gain as much knowledge as I could before going in to pull the trigger. I don't consider myself an expert by any means, especially that I don't even own one yet, and have only test driven one. But I do feel like I know the car pretty well from everything I've read and seen and experienced.

Before even going to the dealership I was emailing back and forth with the Internet Sales Manager there to see what kind of price I could get for their ow ST3 with a vinyl kit. He said he would price match anything I gave him and so I did. He matched it at $26,975 and included a "discounted price" from 3k to 2k for the vinyl kit that the other ST3 didn't include and gave me an otd price of $30,905. So now I'm at the dealership, thinking maybe I can work myself into a little better deal. The car salesman they send to me is about 3 weeks into his job after moving up here in WA from AZ with no background experience whatsoever. He's friendly as most are, but I could already tell he's going to be the messenger boy as soon as we start talking numbers just by the lack of information he knew about the car and the business. The car I was looking at was beautiful. Loved everything about the test drive and now my wife is totally sold by it as well at this point. By the amount of extra detail they put onto the car, I figure that must have been the reason why they wouldn't sell it to me for a good price. They wanted to make a fortune off of it apparently. The first number they threw at me was honestly an insult. They said MSRP is 36k, already knowing in the back of my mind it's around 31k anywhere else, didn't even throw in a discount or a rebate and flat out said 41k otd. My eyes about popped out of my head. Do they think because we're younger than everyone else in the store, we're that stupid? This is when I again had to show the price they were supposed to match. They came back and told me it was all of a sudden an ST2, not an ST3. (I'll leave the links for you guys to decide). I explained to him that it was in fact an ST3 they were price matching and eventually convinced the salesman. They were shady af about every deal they proposed. I feel like they tried every trick in the Devils Handbook. They never showed what apr I'd be paying with their printouts, and who it's thru. Just 3 choices of down payments and the otd cost as well as a $700ish monthly payment depending on the down payment. I requested if I could get financing thru Ford multiple times since they have a 0% or 1.9% apr for 72 mo right now, and never heard anything back from it. It was pushed aside. They never showed the incentives or my trade-in value. He just kept coming back with more numbers after declining every rip-off attempt. He eventually just wrote down on a piece of paper that read "if the payment is 400 a month I agree to buy the car" (with no other information...uhh apr? total cost?...anything else? nope!) with an 'x-line' for me to sign on. Talk about shady... I told him I won't sign anything, and he tried to convince me that they will just throw the paper back at him if I don't sign. So i threatened to leave...which made his lie disappear all of a sudden and finally he asked me how much I wanted to pay. 29k with a trade-in that is pretty much a wash. It was nowhere close what they wanted me to overpay. So I shook the guys hand and left. What do you guys think, is this some shady stuff or are people really paying 41k for a FoST3? Because from what I've seen, people are paying 28'ish otd in my area, and I'm guessing around 400ish a month with the Ford financing thats going on especially. Is there anything I could have done to make a good deal happen? Should I have offered more? Idk, I just want my damn FoST already. Guess I'll have to shop elsewhere. :serious:
