abettercrowtrap:

AU where Hawke’s story is chronicled by Sister Petrice, not Varric, and she is the most reviled person in Thedas.

Everyone knows that Hawke engineered the destruction of the Hightown Chantry and the death of Knight-Commander Meredith so that she could create a haven for depraved apostates.  With their support she has crowned herself Viscount-Magister.

Hawke’s villainous cabal includes:

Varric Tethras, a dwarf who was so jealous of his older brother’s success that he forsook his noble roots and became a shadowy crime boss.  This scoundrel conspired with Hawke to lock his brother away and drive him mad — all the better to seize the fortune that his brother made during a heroic expedition to the Deep Roads.  They say that Varric rules Lowtown for Hawke by manipulating the Carta and the Coterie.

Isabela of the Eastern Seas, a common whore and thief who slept her way into Hawke’s good graces.  Hawke convinced Isabela to hide the Tome of Koslun in order to destabilize the Kirkwall government.  She now relies on Isabela’s network of pirates and smugglers to defeat the Chantry’s trade embargo on the Kirkwall port.

Anders the Heretic, an abomination who started a cult of personality in the Darktown slums.  He heals diseases of the body in order to infect the mind, corrupting the poor and dispossessed into fanatical thralls.  Anders struck the blow that allowed Hawke to topple the Gallows.  He may now be preaching that Hawke is a mage savior, may Andraste have mercy on those who read his poisoned words.

Aveline Vallen, a glorified thug who abandoned her duty to Ferelden as soon as the going got tough.  Hawke helped Aveline gain the post of Guard Captain in record time by framing her predecessor for murder.  Aveline repaid the favor by turning a blind eye to Hawke’s criminal activities until Hawke was ready to take over the city.  She now acts as primary Hawke’s enforcer.

Merrill, the Witch of the Mirror, a Dalish elf who sacrificed her own clan in exchange for dark secrets from beyond the Fade.  She kept them in thrall for years on the Sundermount until she was finally ready to slay them for her Elluvian rituals.  Merrill controls the Alienage for Hawke by seducing its residents with the “help” her blood magic can offer them.  Of course, she’s really just keeping those elves in reserve to feed her mirror.

Fenris, a former slave whose ambition caused him to volunteer for blood magic experiments.  The magic drove him mad and now nothing can quench his insatiable thirst for violence.  Why, he even slew his poor, dear sister, who brought envoys from Tevinter to help him return to his old self!  Hawke keeps Fenris on a leash in Hightown as a threat to the noble population.

Look upon the Tyrant of Kirkwall and despair.

While her notes on Sebastian would simply read, “that cutie-patootie in the shiny armor”. :)
