10:45 AM, Fairy Tale (Episodes 1-3) – MAIN EVENTS

TV-14. Dubbed. When four young Fairy Tail members unite, their bond is forged by a power found in neither muscle nor magic and grows stronger with every mission. Neon Genesis Evangelion is considered one of the most influential anime of all time. Join the panelists from NoS Anime as they look into some of the major religious references that Evangelion utilizes for its imagery. They look at the historical connections, original Hebrew names, etc. in a secular setting to see how well (or poorly?) Eva’s creators, Gainax, selected their references.

1:30 PM, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (Episodes 1-3) – MAIN EVENTS

TV-14. Subbed. Edward and Alphonse Elric’s reckless disregard for alchemy’s fundamental laws ripped half of Ed’s limbs from his body and left Al’s soul clinging to a cold suit of armor. To restore what was lost, the brothers scour a war-torn land for the Philosopher’s Stone, a fabled relic which grants the ability to perform alchemy in impossible ways.

2:00 PM, Explore the World of Anime Music with Wendi Shi – MAIN EVENTS

Meet Wendi Shi, a New Age musician who composes anime and fantasy-themed music. Her albums “Autumn” and “Songs from Distant Lands” are available in over 95 countries. As an Eastern girl raised in a Western world, Wendi incorporates cultural elements from over the world in her music and art. 2:00 PM, How to Play Cardfight!! Vanguard – MANGA LIBRARY/WORKSHOPS

Cardfight!! Vanguard (カードファイト!! ヴァンガード) is a Japanese media franchise created in collaboration among Akira Itō (Yu-Gi-Oh! R), Satoshi Nakamura (Duel Masters), and Bushiroad president Takāki Kidani. An anime television series was produced by TMS Entertainment and aired in Japan on TV Tokyo in 2011. An official trading card game by Bushiroad was released shortly after. Swing by and learn how to play this amazing game!

2:00 PM, Arcana Hearts 3 (Xbox 360) Tournament – VIDEO GAME ROOM

Arcana Heart 3 is a 2009 2D arcade fighting game developed by Examu and published by Arc System Works. It is the third entry in the Arcana Heart series – but was never released on the Xbox 360 in the United States. Player slots are limited to 16 (with a standby list – time pending) and there are prizes! 3:00 PM, Japan Stories! with Steve Bennett – MAIN EVENTS

Steve was born at Tachikawa Air Force Base in Tokyo, Japan. He later moved to the States, but in December, 2008, Steve and his wife Nikki moved back to Japan and only recently returned. Join Steve for an hour of tall tales and colorful adventures from his time living in the land of otaku.

You know that Japan doesn’t only make cartoons, right? Sometimes they have real people instead of animated people in their shows about high school. The Ass Backwards Anime Podcast is here to show you some of the best (in our opinion) live-action dramas Japan has to offer. Even though we are an anime podcast, we love drama.

4:00 PM, Hanayamata (Episodes 1-2) – CHIBI EVENTS

TV-14. Created in Kochi in 1954, Yosakoi incorporates modern music and classic Japanese dance into a unique fusion performed in teams. However, while Yosakoi has become a growing phenomenon with huge festivals held across Japan, it’s never been more than a blip on high school student Naru Sekia’s cultural radar. Not that much has ever really grabbed Naru’s attention. She’s average in grades, average in sports and in art… really, the only thing that has ever caught her fancy is reading fairy tales. Until the day she encounters her own personal “fairy”: Hana, an American exchange student who is determined to start a Yosakoi dancing club at their school.

Florida Anime Experience will provide the acrylic paint, brushes, cels, and supplies…and “Uncle” Steve Bennett! You provide the creativity. A staple of anime conventions in the early 2000s, Steve’s Cel Painting Workshop is part arts and crafts and part storytelling. Learn what it’s like to work in the classic (pre-CGI) animation industry as an artist! PREMIUM EVENT: Space is limited, and an additional ticket must be purchased in advance at Event Registration for $5 to cover your cel/supplies. (2 Hours)

7:00 PM, Noise Complaint Presents: A Night of Anime Tap Dance! – MAIN EVENTS

Noise Complaint is a group of professional tap dancers who perform full sets of choreographed dances as characters from your favorite Anime shows and video games. Noise Complaint’s dances are choreographed using music that is either directly taken from or inspired by currently trending or favorite Anime and Video Games. For this show, these awesome dancers will tell stories from the worlds of Fairy Tail and Sailor Moon through classical and rhythmic tap dance choreography, incidental improv acting and hilarious antics. This is surely a fan-favorite show that shouldn’t be missed!

TV-14. Dubbed. Get ready for latest, full-length feature film in the on-going, pirate epic, One Piece. Said to be comparable to the Ancient Weapons of old, the Marines’ trump card, the “Dyna Stones,” have suddenly been stolen by a group of renegade vigilantes. The terrifyingly powerful man responsible, former Marine Admiral “Z”, now stands in the path of Luffy and his Straw Hat Pirates. Kamishibai or “Paper-theatre” is form of vibrant street storytelling. It was very popular throughout urban Japan from 1920’s to the 1950’s – before the advent of television and video games. Join Izumi Sakurada from Asia Trend as she shares the tales of Momotaro-Peach Boy, Amaterasu-Sun Goddess, and Omusubi Kororin-Rolling Riceball. This is a wonderful all ages presentation!

Alvin “Al” Aki’s origami is regularly featured in the Orlando Public Library and he has hosted workshops regarding the Japanese art form across Central Florida for a number of years. Mr. Aki brings his locally renowned class to Florida Anime Experience for a third year – introducing attendees of all ages to this engaging and entertaining part of Japanese culture. This workshop is included with your admission to Florida Anime Experience 2016 and supplies are provided. This workshop ends at 2:30 PM.

2:00 PM, Just A Gintama Panel – CHIBI EVENTS

Heard of Gintama? No? Yeah, that makes sense. Well, the anime just ended (again) so now is a great a time as any to learn what this series is about. The Ass Backwards Anime Podcast is here to tell you why this show about clearly insane people is worth your time. Come and see why this hidden gem from the Shonen Jump catalog is not just one series, it’s every series.

2:00 PM, Play Tanto Coure with Maid Cafe Mikkusu! – VIDEO GAME ROOM

Tanto Cuore is a Japanese deck-building card game! Each player plays as the Lord of a mansion and hires maids to fill out their house to become the King of Maids! The end goal is simple enough, the player who has the most Victory Points at the end of the game wins! Players acquire Victory Points by employing a variety of maids and “Love” cards that allow for different strategies. Come learn how to play this game in our Game Room with the Maids of Maid Cafe! 3:00 PM, Demonstration of Traditional & Modern Japanese Martial Arts – MAIN EVENTS

Join Metro Orlando Judo Kai for a live presentation on stage featuring demonstrations of Bujutsu, the Classical Japanese Martial Arts, as well as a demonstration of Bujutsu’s successor forms known as Gendai Budo, or Modern Martial Arts. The focus of the Gendai Budo demonstrations will be on the modern Martial Art and Olympic Sport of Kodokan Judo. Techniques of ancient Japanese combat, with and without weapons, will be demonstrated and explained, followed by a demonstration of techniques used in modern combat sports such as Judo. Metro Orlando Judo Kai is a Florida not for profit corporation dedicated to the promotion of Kodokan Judo as well as education, sports, and culture. Metro Orlando Judo Kai has a well established relationship with the Tokai University Judo program, which is the number one ranked university Judo program in Japan, and who has produced some of the world’s greatest Judo competitors. Metro Orlando Judo Kai has an international array of instructors coming from Japan, Korea, Europe, the Middle East, Brazil, and of course the USA. Metro Orlando Judo Kai operates their program out of the USA Wrestling Southeast Regional Training Center, which is an official training center for the US Olympic Wrestling program.

As any well versed anime fan will tell you, Neon Genesis Evangelion (and the subsequent movies) are ubiquitous with religious symbolism – specifically Christianity and old Hebrew.
