A meeting point for residents and tourists seeking to spend the summer participating in social, artistic, and cultural activities targeting all age groups, such as live concerts, art exhibition, DJ sets, and picnics. With the comfort of a kiosk and an exceptional setting, the Horticultural Garden is a green area in the heart of Florence. Open from May to September.

[Outside Florence] 2014 World Motorcycle Championship at Mugello. The beautiful valley of Mugello and the town of Scarperia will host the Gran Prix of Italy, the most anticipated and important two-wheel sporting event of the year. The event attracts thousands of fans from all over the world, every year. From Friday, May 30, until Sunday, June 2, 2014.

Baccio Bandinelli, sculptor and teacher (1493-1560) – National Museum of the Bargello. Painting and sculpture, drawings and prints, bronzes, medals. Baccio Bandinelli is one of the greatest sculptors of the extraordinary sixteenth century in Florence.

Alchemy Daze is a Florentine 5 band members that will perform covers of famous seventies progressive rock and blues songs. [Outside Florence] Medieval Feast in Malmantile, Lastra a Signa (FI). The twenty-first edition of the event. The Florence Inferno Tour organized by Florence Inferno and ADAGIO con BRIO. A full-day Florence walking tour inspired by Dan Brown’s latest novel Inferno. Arts and crafts fair at Piazza SS. Annunziata. Artistic craftsmanship, quality of design, and numerous demonstrations of ancient crafts. Cricket Festival at Cascine park. After an absence of almost 15 years, this traditional event returns. There are two different interpretations of the festival: the first, the more positive, refers to the view that the cricket was a symbol of spring; the second refers instead to the idea that the cricket was a pest for the Tuscan countryside, and therefore had to be captured. Today the festival is an opportunity to spend a day outdoors and to wander the market.

Today is Republic Day, a national holiday.

It was on June 2, 1946, after the fall of the fascist party, that the vote was held to decide whether Italy should remain a monarchy or become a democratic republic. The Republic of Italy was founded. La Festa della Repubblica celebrates this historic day.

The major festivities are held in Rome, but Florentines also celebrate it with a wreath-laying ceremony in Piazza dell’Unità and the raising of the Flag in Piazza Repubblica.

The celebration will begin in Piazza dell’Unità at 9.30 a.m. and will continue in Piazza della Repubblica. There will also be procession of the Florentine Republic in elaborate Renaissance dress and a marching band accompanying Florentine representatives and military officials.

It is from this settlement that the City of Florence seems to have originated. From Egypt of the Pharaohs to the Japan of the Samurai through the Islamic Middle East: Recent renovations of Textile Materials Industry by Opificio at Opificio delle Pietre Dure – First public presentation of the restored works by Opificio: textiles from Egypt, works that refer to the everyday life of 2,400 years ago, rare and precious examples of textiles in silk, linen and gold, and a rare Japanese costume called Manchira, part of a high-ranking samurai armor. Lunch at ZAP, Zona Aromatica Protetta (Protected Aromatic Area) – Opened on May 20, Zap is the new green heart of Florence: recovery of green space, cultural cooperation, and youth projects are the three elements that characterize this area.
