The Carnival in Viareggio originates from the end of the 19th century. A procession starts in Piazza Signoria at 10.30 heading toward piazza Santa Croce, where the great artist is buried in the cathedral.

After leaving flowers at his tomb, the procession carries on to the Renaissance artist’s home in Florence.
