HERNDON, USA: Christina Bellantoni, Editor-in-Chief of Roll Call and former Political Editor for the PBS NewsHour, will deliver this year’s keynote address at the National Association of Landscape Professionals Legislative Day on the Hill on July 20 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, USA.

At Roll Call, Bellantoni served as associate politics editor during and after the 2010 midterm elections. She wrote about national politics and Congress, worked with reporters to craft enterprise projects, led the creation of a new series of freshman profiles and helped enhance Roll Call’s social media presence.

Bellantoni’s speech is part of NALP’s annual Legislative Day on the Hill activities. Each year, landscape and lawn care company staffs come to Washington D.C., from all over the nation to be briefed on legislative issues that affect our industry. They team up to meet with legislators and their staffs to discuss important industry issues, such as H-2B, business or pesticide issues, and Lyme disease.

All industry professionals are encouraged to participate in Legislative Day on the Hill. It is an opportunity for the industry to build an awareness of who we are, as individuals and as an industry, with our congressional members. This year, it’s especially important to unite under the new association name and create recognition and awareness on the Hill.

“We encourage participants to pick issues that are most important to them and to their business to discuss with legislators,” said Tom Delaney, NALP Director of Government Affairs. “Those attending Legislative Day on the Hill get training about how to speak with legislators and congressional staff and get the satisfaction of knowing that they helped the industry by adding their voice to the legislative process.”

The visits to Capitol Hill take place July 21, 2015. The day before, many NALP members participate in the award-winning Renewal & Remembrance program to beautify the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.

The Accredited Snow Contractors Association, the National Hispanic Landscape Alliance, and Professional Grounds Management Society will partner with NALP to host this year’s events.

Also helping to make this event possible are Platinum sponsors Caterpillar, Inc. and New Holland Construction, and Gold sponsor JOHN DEERE. For a complete listing of all of our sponsors, visit the Renewal & Remembrance and Legislative Day on the Hill website.
