I have recently discovered a truly awesome piece of freeware for FS9, FSX, Prepare3D and XPlane. It is FAST... it is SIMPLE... and did I mention it is FREE??? Yes - it is freeware!!!
It is called FSRealWX. It is a simple, yet powerful software weather engine that uses current METAR data which is downloaded lighting-fast from your choice of (3) international sources via the internet, and then recreates the same real-world weather into exactly the same thing onscreen in your simulated FS world.
It does not come with any textures, or extra Bells & Whistles... it simply does weather. Only weather. And it does it very well.
You can get it at FSRealWX.
I encourage you to register (it's FREE) and you will be able to access the full version. Once registered, go to the Downloads section. Look for the Version 2 Setup file.
If you do not register, you can only download the 'Lite version' of FSRealWX.
