While it may be the most isolated city in the world, don’t let that fool you because Australia’s west-coast wonder has a whole host of exciting things to do and see.  From fun beaches and cool markets to top notch parks and amazing food, here’s what to do for 3 days in Perth!

Day #1 – Rottnest

An all-day event, this nearby island boasts a plethora of fun things to do.  Spend the afternoon cycling around.  Check out panoramic views of the Indian Ocean from Bathurst Lighthouse, get up close with some indigenous creatures like the cute Quokka or head to the local beach.  Here, you can snorkel, surf, fish or even dive and explore the surrounding waters.  For all those golf lovers, the island also is home to the beautifully manicured greens of the Rottnest Golf Course.  If you happen to be travelling in August, sign up for the Rottnest Cup!  Enjoy a beautiful sunset over a nice glass of wine at Aristos.  Known for delicious seafood at affordable prices this is the perfect spot to end an amazing day.

Day #2 – Fremantle Markets or Kings Park and Cotesloe.

If you are fortunate enough to be in Perth over a weekend than you simply must go to the Fremantle Markets.  A smorgasbord of interesting traders selling everything from freshly baked bread to opals, it is a wonderful spot to spend the afternoon, enjoy a meal and relax.  For those not in the city over a weekend, Kings Park and Botanic Gardens is an excellent place for the whole family.  Walk the glass bridge and see Perth from the tree tops, hike up Jacob’s ladder or pack a picnic and sit amongst the bright flowers of the botanical gardens.  In the afternoon, head to the nearby beachfront of Cotesloe and listen to the waves roll onto the beach.  A great spot for casual dinner and drinks Cotesloe is a local favourite.

Day 3 – Hillarys Boat Harbour

A premier recreational destination, Hillary’s Boat Harbour is a full day of fun and adventure.  Shop for a few souvenirs at Sorrento Quay, or experience life under the sea at the AQWA aquarium.   For those that would like to get some beach time in, Hillary’s beach boasts stunning white sands perfect for sunbathing or playing in the waves.  Enjoy some fresh –caught fish and chips if you get hungry or try a meal at one of the local taverns.  A whole day outing, the harbour also has great kids’ activities like mini-golf, water-slides and even a few circus rides.

So, the next time you have a few days in Perth, be sure to explore all the city has to offer.  From cool markets, great beaches and excellent dining, Perth is sure to entertain.
