Well today is the fun day that all 8 of the bloggers in the CAL are sharing projects you can make with your new hexagons! And they are a huge range of projects, everything to bags, to pillows, to my little coin purse!

My project is this simple little Crochet Coin Purse! It’s a quick and easy gift idea, perfect for a friend, teacher, or for Mother’s Day!
So let’s get started!
How to Make a Crochet Hexagon Coin Purse:
Materials:
3 Colors of Worsted Weight Yarn – KnitPicks Brava – I used Solstice, Dove Heather, and Seashell
Fabric for Lining – Approximately 6″ x 18″ – or a fat quarter will work great
Thread to match lining
Yarn Needle, Embroidery Needle
Embroidery Thread to match Coin Purse
Sew On Coin Purse Frame – I used this one
Star Lily Hexagon Pattern
Begin by crocheting three of the Star Lily Hexagons. Though this tutorial will work for any of the hexagons in the CAL so you can change it up if you want!
Trace your hexagon onto a piece of scrap paper. Add a 1/2″ seam allowance to the hexagon and cut out three from your lining fabric.
Cut a length of yarn the same color as your border yarn. Measure on the hexagon where the coin purse sides stop. This will be the point where you stop stitching on each side. Sew two of the hexagons together by placing the hexagons right side together. Stitch them together by passing the yarn through each stitch, sewing them together but not too tightly. On each side sew to the point. Open up the bottom section of the two hexagons and place the third hexagon so the right side faces in. Sew around all the sides of the hexagons, sewing the bottom piece in place.
Place your fabric lining pieces together in just the same way and sew them together. Make sure you stop at the same point on the sides as the hexagons.
Place your hexagon piece inside the lining so the wrong sides are together. Turn the edges of the lining under 1/2″ and sew the top and sides of the lining to the hexagons with small stitches that match your lining fabric.
Turn the pieces right side out (so the crochet is outside and the lining is inside). Tuck the top and sides of the coin purse into the frame. You’ll find it easiest if you start with one side, then move to the other. Cut a length of embroidery floss and using an embroidery needle, stitch the coin purse to the frame. Try to keep your stitches from showing on the inside of the coin purse by tucking them under the frame.
Repeat for the other side of the frame.
