Sunwarrior was one of the first protein powders I ever used.

When I first started reading blogs I tried a different one, but when I finally started blogging right after college I was a vegetarian and so their plant-based product really appealed to me. I used SunWarrior Classic Vanilla for years in all my post-run smoothies, some creative baking, and more.

Eventually I just started trying some new things, but when Sunwarrior reached out to have my review some of their products, I was excited to go back to my roots!!

My breakfasts have looked like this a lot lately, usually after a quick morning workout so I can get some protein in quickly before class:

1-2 cups vanilla almond milk

1 cup frozen berries OR one banana

1 handful spinach

1 package Sunwarrior Protein

About the different proteins:

Classic Protein is made from a sprouted brown rice. Classic Protein is hypoallergenic and gentle on digestion. Warrior Blend is a synergistic combination of raw pea, cranberry, and hemp proteins with medium chain triglycerides from coconut oil. Warrior Blend has a slightly better amino acid profile and includes the anti-inflammatory power of coconut to speed recovery. Both are effective sources of protein. It normally comes down to personal preferences.

My thoughts on the flavors:

Classic vanilla & classic chocolate: really good, like I remembered. A little chalkier than some others I’ve tried, but not necessarily in a bad way! It almost just made the shakes taste malty. Not super sweet.

Warrior Blend Vanilla: I had tried this once in the past and wasn’t a fan, and I’m still not. A little too earthy I think.

Warrior Blend Chocolate: LOVED. My favorite of them all, which surprised me since I didn’t enjoy the vanilla as much. I would DEFINITELY get this chocolate warrior blend again. It was so good!!

I haven’t tried the super greens powders, activated barley, or special vitamin mineral formulas yet, just because I’m not super into that kind of thing at the moment. I’m sure I’ll get brave one day when I feel like I need a hefty dose of nutrition. It’s cool that they offer so many different types of unique supplements.
