Hi!!

I’m off to Minneapolis today to see one of my best friends from college get MARRIED! AHH! It’s the first really close friend that’s gotten married so will be super fun and a great opportunity to catch up with old college friends. I also get to see some relatives up there too, but of course my little brother who lives there now is going home to STL the weekend I go. That little punk.

Here’s a recap!

Five Things I Ate:

Whole Food’s Sushi + TJ’s chocolate bar as a Friday night treat. (+ some spoonfuls of PB on the couch). I was strangely exhausted and wanted to just relax and enjoy myself before a weekend of studying. Whole Foods sushi and chocolate are my go-tos for that!

Cinnamon Raison Swirl PB&Co. Addicted. (see above.) The jar is gone now.

Dr. Ho’s Humble Pie, a pizza place about 20 minutes away that my roommate heard was awesome. We ordered a few and had them with a glass of wine for dinner Saturday night. The “Popeye”…OMG. Spinach, mozzerella, cheddar, and feta with whole cloves of roasted garlic. I die.

The most incredible brownies ever in the whole world at a little pizza party my class had on Monday night. Homemade. Dripping in chocolate icing. I died and went to Heaven.

Freshly picked peaches in my morning oatmeal. Mixed it up a bit! I stirred half in while cooking and half diced on top with cinnamon.

Five Workouts:

Mon: 30 min yoga for shoulders on Reflexion Yoga, 50 min Spin workout, Hiked Humpback mountain

Tues: 5.5 mile run

Wed: A circuit workout from Julie @ PBFingers.com

Thurs: Skipped my morning workout in favor of sleep. Decided on just a quick 15 min Reflexion Yoga session to relax after a long day.

Fri: Hoping for a run before class!

Five Things Making Me Happy:

My Bikram instructor walked on my feet during Saturday’s class. Only a few of the instructors do it, and only during the eight Savasanas during the back strengthening series when you’re laying on your stomach. I have always wanted it done, but was never one of the lucky! Saturday was a small class and I was the last one, but oh boy did it feel good on my arches. I thanked her after class:)

My roommate is house sitting for a friend’s family that lives on a huge BEAUTIFUL farm a few minutes south of here. They said she could have people over, so I went by with some friends and we all ran around looking at the animals and gardens and mountain views like exuberant little kids. It’s SO beautiful (and also massively huge and excessive). We can dream, right?

An older man at the gym saw me doing skaters as part of Julie’s circuit workout Wednesday morning, and gave me a thumbs up saying “you’re the ONLY other person I’ve ever seen do those besides me!” He isn’t in as great of shape as all the other macho guys there in the morning, and I often hear them giving him trouble and pushing him to do better on the exercises. But he continuously does his own thing, working hard. Truthfully, seeing HIM do the skaters gave me the confidence to bust them out in the middle of the gym that day.

Starting to shadow and volunteer. I’ve got to shadow an Internist in a procedures clinic and am setting up shadowing with an endocrinologist and orthopedic surgeon as well. And I am either going to volunteer in Transfusions or in Inpatient Cancer starting in the fall. I’m so excited to get involved in real medicine, even though I can’t do much (at all) yet!

Your turn! What’s making you happy this week?
