Aloha all!

Was a bit hectic this past week due to the plethora of good sneakers releasing… It’s been one of those weeks where I spent so much money on my sneaker hobby that it led me to contemplation of completely stopping… (fat chance) haha! …I know you collectors go through the same thing every once in a while! Lol! Since the scene is so crazy these days, I wonder if anyone offers ‘Sneakerheads Anonymous’ groups to talk about addiction issues… I feel like it’s that serious sometimes! Lol!

Anyhow, since I’m excited about the next Good Foot event, I’ll start this weeks post with all the info that will get you there…

Sept 10- About The Goods & Hawaii Sneakerheads present the fourth installment of THE GOOD FOOT, The “Classics” Edition at Bar35 (35 North Hotel St.), an event celebrating sneaker culture and sneaker enthusiasts onSaturday, September 21, 2013 from 9PM-2AM. On to the footwear…

Reebok Ventilators

YES REEBOK!!! I’ve been waiting so patiently for Ventilators I like and these hit it right on the nose! Moneybags!

BAIT x Asics Gel Saga – “Phantom Lagoons”

I really like that a lot of the collaborations these days are pushing farther and farther outside of the box… It’s been interesting and refreshing seeing unfamiliar (for the most part) sneakers pop up everywhere.

Concepts x New Balance Made in USA 998 – “C-Note”

Super good. This Saturday. Concepts.

adidas Originals adiZero Primeknit 2.0

Ooohkay adidas… So much for ‘adidas Originals…’ LOL.

Nike Air Max 90 PRM Tape – Grey/Laser

Little crazy, but I like em… “90′s” have such a beautiful shape…

Nike KD 6 NSW Lifestyle – “Birthday”

Eek! …crazy.

Nike Air Tech Challenge Huarache

Two of my favorite silhouettes… Colors could use some work though…

NIKEiD Jordan Spiz’ike – Glow in the Dark Elephant Print

More glow… of course! Does anyone know if Nike started an “Exploiting Department?!” …Glowing elephant is pretty crazy. lol…

Nike Lunar Flyknit Chukka

I was really getting into Flyknit Chukka’s for a second, but they’re starting to get a little crazy with it… The “Brave Blues” are cool though…

OLD SOLE, NEW TRICKS INTERVIEW: Riana “Tittahbyte” Stellburg | The “I-Like-What-I-Like” Type

Name:

Riana Stellburg

Nickname / AKA:

Tittahbyte / Titz / Rudified

Shoe size:

Size 10 in women’s (don’t judge me) / 8.5 in men’s

My hustle:

Just your multi-skilled cliché (Selektah / Photographer / Journalist / Promoter / Shop Manager & PR&Media for About The Goods)

How many years I’ve been in an affair with sneakers:

It’s actually almost my one year anniversary… I’m not trying to claim that I’m a “sneakerhead” and I know every type of pair in the whole world. I got into it because I was physically surrounded by shoes all day and I had friends constantly talking about their ‘new pickup’

How many pairs I own:

Luckily I can still count them on my two hands! I’m a very late bloomer.

Amazing sneaker-related story:

This is where I actually got to experience the whole “law of attraction.” When I saw the Nike Women’s Cortez collab with Liberty of London, I began searching for that pair like a dog looking for a bone. I hit up the very people that helped refine my taste in sneakers, Jon Took & Stu asking them to help me out on this journey. They were dogging on me saying since it was released a few years back, it was going to be difficult to get them, especially cause my shoe size is HUGE (can thank my haole side for that). I was super bummed and I would check online randomly anyway. One day I found them on eBay, brand new, in my size. On top of that they were super cheap. Without hesitation I copped them and when I had them in my hands, I knew that this pair would set the tone for my budding sneaker collection. I thought this pair was fire and to this day I still think it is. I know people probably wonder why I wear that pair a lot and why I hold it dear to me and it’s because those Cortez’s were the first pair of sneakers I actually found, searched and bought on my own.

Holy Grail and why:

I think the previous question answered this

Most despised footwear and why:

Uggz. I don’t understand why females wear those, especially in Hawaii. Just not my steez.

If I had to choose ONE pair to wear for the rest of my life, it would be:

My Asics Gel Saga in Black and Teal. They’re so comfortable and stunt.

Currently hunting for:

Right now it’s the Nike Women’s Air Max 1 Safari in Red. I’ve been lucky to find the sneakers I wanted but this pair has me stumped. I love the vibrant contrast of the two colors and I can’t get enough of that red sole.

Changes or surprises I’m hoping for in the sneaker world:

I honestly haven’t been in it too long and I have no shame in that. I think what would really surprise me is if places start accepting pairs of shoes as currency, kind of like bars of gold. So like if you’re shopping in the store or whatever, instead of busting some bills just bring out a box of Nike Roshes. A change I’m hoping for in the future is that people on the mainland notice that Hawaii has a crazy fan-base of sneaker enthusiasts. I feel like a lot of non-local people underestimate Hawaii as far as fashion goes, we’re much more progressive than those cats out there.

A tip for my favorite footwear brand:

More printed insoles please!

Additional comments, shout-outs, big ups:

Like what you like, don’t feel obligated to fall into trends. You need to diversify your pairs, diversify! I would feel weird if the person next to me was wearing the same pair I was wearing. I would like to shout out my great sneaker mentors, Werdupstu and Took who pretty much lifted the veil (for the lack of a better description) from my eyes as far as footwear goes, the whole Hawaii Sneakerheads crew (Mayor Ronald, Jerry, Mike) for being so supportive, and my boyfriend Ribs who helped me found my long lost love for runners. Shout out to JJ for this interview and homegirl Alia for showing me that you can wear a American Apparel dress and rock Concords with it. Also big ups to the World Wide Web for feeding this new addiction of mine.

A question for Parkz (by Titz): Where do you get your chains from? I like one.

Parkz: …secret (anyone who knows me will tell you that this is my favorite word… HAHA!). Bumbai you learn Titz! Lol joke! To answer your question though, I’m always on the hunt for nice jewelry… I’m slightly picky about what I purchase, so to give you a simple answer, there’s no one spot that I buy my chains from. However, I can tell you that my two favorites came from a custom shop in Japan though…
