There is no hiding the fact that in America today, people are gaining weight and suffering with more and more chronic “diseases.”  Unfortunately, these conditions are mostly lifestyle related.  Obesity is at the helm because it is now considered one of the leading causes of lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

As a matter of fact, one physician, Dr. Mark Hyman, has coined the term “diabesity,” to describe the combined conditions of obesity and diabetes.  According to Dr. Hyman, “Diabesity, the continuum of health problems ranging from mild insulin resistance and overweight to obesity and diabetes, is the single biggest global health epidemic of our time.  It is one of the leading causes of heart disease, dementia, cancer and premature death in the world and is almost entirely caused by environmental and lifestyle factors.  This means that it is almost 100 percent preventable and curable.”1

This is where the services of a Health/Wellness Coach come in!  In order to prevent or reverse the conditions mentioned above, change has to happen.  We all know that change is sometimes very difficult, especially if you’re trying to make these changes on your own or you are just sent home with some instructions and no one bothers to check in on you to see how you are progressing.  I mean, if it wasn’t so difficult, everyone would already be making those changes, right?

A Health Coach will work with you every step of the way.  The Health Coach will work with you as a partner in your journey to good health because that is his/her prime concern…your health.  The Health Coach is not interested in just giving you a diet/meal plan and leaving it at that.  He/she wants to get to know you, how you think, how you feel, what has happened in your life to get you to where you are today, what your goals are, where you want to be 3 months, 6 months or even 2 years from now.  The bottom line is that a health coach will look at every aspect of you and your life and work with you to make the changes necessary to get you firmly on that road to good health.  One of the key benefits of working with a Health Coach is the support you will receive.

If you are one of the thousands or even millions of people out there who have tried to set goals for your health and then find yourself giving up, you might want to give a health coach a chance to work with you.  There are health coaches who specialize in working with various groups of people, whether it’s age groups, men/women and/or health conditions.  The point is, health coaching is a field that is growing by leaps and bounds and because you can work with a health coach at a distance, via phone, skype, email, etc., there is no reason you cannot find someone with whom you can start working.  Your journey to good health starts with that first step and there are so many of us who really want to help!  All you have to do is reach out and we’ll be there!
