Are you “that stinky person?”

Confession time.

“I was/am.”

“I don’t use deodorant or antiperspirants, so…”

“Sometimes I stink.”

This is a reality I have recently faced that I wanted to share with you in hopes of making sure you avoid my pitfalls.

First off, why don’t I use deodorant in the first place?

The main reason – all the toxic chemicals that can be found in most of the leading brands. You can learn more about these toxins here if you’re interested.

In the U.S. I would hit up the local health food store and get more natural deodorant. Down here in Colombia, however, I have had a hard time finding an alternative.

This has set me out on a mission. How can I avoid being the stinky guy without putting harmful toxins in my body?

That is why I put together this list of 10 natural tips and tricks to make sure you don’t stink:

1. Make your own deodorant.

The first thing you can do is put together a natural deodorant of your own. Here is a great article telling you how to do this.

2. Buy a healthy deodorant.

If you are looking for some already-made natural deodorants, I would recommend Soapwalla deodorant cream or Lavanila Laboratories Healthy Deodorant for the ladies and Every Man Jack Deodorant for the fellas.

3. Wash yourself daily with a natural soap.

At Fitlife, we recommend Dr. Bronner’s body wash. This may seem obvious, but it has to be said. Because it’s amazing and leaves your skin energized and super clean!

4. Limit foods that make you stink.

Foods like broccoli (and other sulfuric foods), meat, fish, alcohol and asparagus to name a few. Highly processed and fried foods aren’t going to do you any favors either.

5. Dry off thoroughly.

Especially in the places you usually sweat the most. Avoiding doing so can make you rather stinky later in the day.

6. Chill out.

High stress levels can lead to bad, bad odor.

7. Exercise daily.

The sweat produced during exercise helps your body naturally excrete toxins that build up and make you stink.

8. Drink lots of water.

Drinking enough water is crucial for cleansing your body of toxins that make you smell less than pleasant.

9. Focus on your digestion.

If you are having issues with your digestion, your body may try excreting waste through your sweat. Look into Biotic Balance Probiotics for some additional help in this department.

10. Eat whole foods.

Eating lots of fruits and veggies contribute to healthy body chemistry, which in turn will help your body smell sweet rather than sour.

Many of these tips may be new, others may seem obvious, but through my experience, these have been the best tactics I know to live naturally and smell like a flower.
