Are you ready to be blown away by coconut oil once again?

We already know that coconuts are amazing. Coconut products can give you clean energy and help you melt away fat.

We also know that toxins are bad. We eat, breath and absorb toxins all day long. They affect our mental clarity, skin beauty, weight-control, and our energy levels. It’s time to kick toxins to the curb.

What if you could replace toxic products for coconut oil? Well, here are three (more) toxic-free, healthy, and interesting reasons to love coconut oil.

Oil Pulling – Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic ritual where you swish oil around in your mouth for about 20 minutes and then spit it out. Oil pulling can wipe out bad breath, whiten teeth (without painful bleaching), heal gum disease, alleviate TMJ pain, and it pulls heavy metals (toxins) out through your gums.

Although different oils can have the same effect, coconut oil is the most effective due to its antibacterial properties. Plus it tastes great.

How to:
Step 1: Place about 1 tsp of coconut oil into your mouth.

Step 2: Begin swishing, being careful not to swallow oil.

Step 3: Swish for 20 minutes.

Step 4: Spit out into the trash.

Facial/body wash – Coconut oil works as a cleanser for all skin types due to its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties (goodbye acne and eczema). It is a natural moisturizer that doesn’t change the pH of your face so it’s not irritating. Since it is an all-natural plant product, it is packed with antioxidants to help diminish fine lines and wrinkles. Coconut oil helps even skin tone and reduce the size of your pores. It even balances out and slows the skin’s oil production while locking in moisture.

How to:

Step 1: Gently massage the coconut oil to your face.

Step 2: Apply warm towel onto your face (to open up the pores).

Step 3: Wait 15-30 seconds or so and then lightly remove oil with washcloth– no scrubbing!

Step 4: If you feel like you need it, rinse with warm water to remove excess oil, but your skin should absorb most of it.

Some people experience an adjustment period where their skin gets worse for about a week. Don’t despair, this is a detox reaction as impurities are pulled from the skin and will clear up. You will look better than ever after.

Sunscreen - Why slather toxic chemicals on your body when you can use non-toxic coconut oil instead? Sunscreens contain chemicals that when rubbed on your skin are readily absorbed into your bloodstream.

Now we need a little sunshine exposure to create health protecting vitamin D. Unlike sunscreen, unprocessed coconut oil doesn’t completely block the UVB rays that are necessary for vitamin D synthesis. It does protect the skin and underlying tissues from damage excessive exposure can cause. Instead of burning or turning red, it produces a light tan, depending on the length of time you spend in the sun.

How to:
Step 1: Slather coconut oil on the skin to protect against sunburn and cancer.

Skip the toxic-products

Next time you reach for a store bought beauty product, take a second and read the ingredient list. Did you know most beauty products are loaded with GMOs and other synthetic ingredients? Are you adding chemicals to your body? Can you identify the ingredients? Remember, whether it is through your mouth or skin, this stuff will be entering your pores and seeping into your cells and organs.

Wouldn’t you be better off reaching for your jar of unrefined, 100% organic coconut oil?

Moral of the story: NATURAL PRODUCTS (coconut oil) = LESS TOXINS IN YOUR SYSTEM = A HEALTHIER GLOWING YOU.
