Pneumonia is a lung infection that can get quite serious if not taken care of properly. I am by no means suggesting that you tackle your pneumonia symptoms completely on your own – for many people, pneumonia can be dangerous and should be monitored by a healthcare professional.

However, there are a lot of ways you can help improve your symptoms at home! The following ideas are excellent ways to prevent yourself from getting sick in the first place or to soothe early symptoms so that you can improve quickly.

#1 GARLIC

Garlic is one of the powerful natural antibiotics on the planet. Not only that, but it also contains antifungal and antiviral properties. Wellness Mama says that garlic can tackle almost any illness!

It is best to use fresh garlic, because this is the most potent. Here are a few ideas of how to use it:

Mince 1 clove and steep it in hot water to make a garlic tea

Gulp down 1 clove minced in a small cup of cold water

Spread minced garlic over butter and toast

Saute with onions and organic butter as a base to soup

Make garlic-infused raw honey

Make Garlic Soup

#2 CAYENNE PEPPER

Cayenne pepper is used for everything from high blood pressure to digestion issues to cancer. It is a potent antifungal and antispasmodic. Because of its hot and spicy nature, it is also beneficial to the respiratory tract and can help get rid of mucus and congestion.

Simply sprinkle some cayenne in fresh lemon water and drink several times throughout the day.

#3 FENUGREEK

Fenugreek has been used in ayurvedic medicine for centuries as a natural remedy and as a flavorful spice. Because of its antiviral properties, it has been shown to help relieve symptoms of colds and similar illnesses.

To use, steep whole fenugreek seeds in boiling water for 10 minutes and strain. Allow to cool and then sip throughout the day.

#4 STEAM

Boil a small pot of water and then remove from heat. Throw a towel over your head, lean over the steam and inhale. Have tissues nearby to wipe up any discharge. This is effective for clearing the sinuses and relieving congestion.

#5 EUCALYPTUS ESSENTIAL OIL

Eucalyptus oil has strong antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic, astringent, analgesic and expectorant properties.

To use, place a bucket of hot water in your shower and add a few drops of eucalyptus or other essential oil. Inhale the steam while you shower. You can also diffuse it while you sleep.

#6 TURMERIC

Turmeric has been extensively studied over the past few decades for its abilities as a natural remedy. Because of its antimicrobial and antibacterial properties, turmeric is a pro at boosting the immune system and kicking out any bugs.

It just ONE of the many reasons that the Fitlife team decided to formulate their very own organic turmeric supplement!

Simply put 2 drops in a glass of water and drink. Oregano tastes VERY STRONG, so be careful not to get it on your lips. Repeat a few times throughout the day until symptoms improve.

#8 GINGER TEA

Ginger has been used in China for centuries to treat various ailments, especially nausea and digestion. Many people have found ginger tea as an effective treatment for the flu and it may help to soothe symptoms when used at night before bed.

To make the tea, simply grate a knuckle of ginger and let it steep in a cup of hot water for several minutes. If you can’t stand the taste, add a little raw honey.

#9  BAKING SODA

Baking soda helps to restore the body’s pH balance, which strengthens the immune system and enables the body to fight off illness on its own. When the body is in its natural, slightly alkaline state, disease cannot survive. Baking soda is also good for helping the body to flush out metabolic waste (toxins).

To use, simply dissolve ⅓ tsp baking soda in a glass of cold water and drink. Use once or twice a day until symptoms improve.

#10 Lemon

Lemon is another powerful remedy that helps to restore proper pH balance and cleanse toxins from the body. Lemon is packed with vitamin C and other immune-boosting nutrients.

Drink fresh squeezed lemon water every morning to help prevent and/or soothe symptoms of the flu.

#11 BASIL AND BLACK PEPPER

Basil is rich in carotenoids, vitamins and minerals that are known to boost immune system health. Basil is also a natural antibacterial and antioxidant.

For the most benefits, juice fresh basil and add some black pepper. Drink twice daily while flu symptoms last.

#12 GREEN JUICE

Nothing can revitalize and boost your immune system as quickly as a glass of fresh green juice. When juiced, the healing micronutrients in vegetables become easily absorbed by the body.
