Has anyone else experienced this:

Ticking 2007 Honda Fit Engine - purge control solenoid valve - YouTube

An FYI for anyone with a similar oddity going on in their Hondas, this is a ticking noise from the engine bay of a 2007 Honda Fit. After some googling, I've discovered that this ticking noise from the purge control solenoid is a rather common occurrence among newer generation Honda owners, and evidently nothing to cause alarm. Like the sewing machine valve train, I'll mark it up as another Honda idiosyncrasy. Being a new owner to this vehicle with 114K miles, I have yet to pinpoint the circumstances surrounding the tick. I'll try to keep this post updated as information becomes available. More information can be found here: Engine tick noise ANSWERED - 8th Generation Honda Civic Forum

More disturbing is the engine's likeness to a diesel. The following video is sans solenoid ticking:

2007 Honda Fit diesel - chugging, clattering, knocking, slapping away. . . - YouTube

There's some distinct knocking or slapping or clattering or whatever going on in the block (not the valve train). It's especially apparent before the engine warms to normal operating temp (hence the high revs in the video, just after a cold start). Even after reaching normal temp, it remains audible, although considerably less so. After gobs of research on this noise, I've come to the conclusion that even this is being chalked up as a normality for these GD Fits. I wonder, do new or low mileage Fits sound like that? I encourage anyone with video (both noisy engines and not noisy engines) to link up in this thread.
