Xavier Scruggs went deep twice in New Orleans' 12-8 win over the Sky Sox, plus five other games through Miami's minor league system.

It took 13 innings on Sunday morning, but the GCL Mets (4-4) eventually defeated the GCL Marlins, 3-2 at the St. Lucie Sports Complex.

Edward Cabrera started for the Marlins, and allowed only an unearned run on four hits and two walks in 4.1 innings. Aneury Osoria (0-1, 13.50), the Marlins sixth pitcher of the game, lost in the bottom of the 13th inning on a Kenneth Bautista walk-off sacrifice fly.

The Mets scored on a James Nelson throwing error in the fifth inning and a Juan Uriarte RBI-double in the sixth. The teams would match zeroes for the next six innings before the Bautista walk-off.

Batavia Muckdogs (4-13)

New York-Penn League (Class-A Short Season)

On Sunday evening in front of 2,090 at BB&T Ballpark, the 10-7 Williamsport Crosscutters completed a three game sweep of the Batavia Muckdogs with a back-and-forth, 7-6 victory.

Batavia struck first, with an Aaron Knapp triple followed by an Isaiah White RBI-single in the second inning, then added another in the top of the fourth on a Knapp sacrifice fly. The Cutters came back in the bottom half with three runs, two on a Darick Hall single, and one on an Arquimedez Gamboa single for a 3-2 Williamsport lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Crosscutters added to their lead with a Luke Maglich RBI-triple. The teams scored a run apiece in the sixth inning, Batavia on a Knapp RBI-single and Williamsport on a William Cuicas sacrifice fly to make it 5-3, Cutters.

Batavia tied it in the top of the seventh with two runs scored on RBI singles from Corey Bird and Samuel Castro, but Williamsport scored in the bottom of the seventh and the bottom of the eighth, on home runs from David Martinelli (2) and from Darick Hall (3), respectively. The Muckdogs got a run back in the top half of the ninth on a Pablo Garcia RBI-single, but the rally ended with two runners on base when Castro flew out to Maglich.

Adonis Medina lasted just 1.1 innings due to an apparent injury to his foot, and gave up an earned run (his first of the year in his fourth start) to inflate his ERA to 0.40. Sam Perez (0-1, 3.86) lost for Batavia, striking out three and giving up two runs in 2.1 innings. Alexander Kline (2-0, 5.68) blew a save for the Crosscutters but earned the win, despite allowing three earned runs in 2.1 innings.

Greensboro Grasshoppers (46-35)

The Grasshoppers closed out a four-game sweep of the Lakewood BlueClaws on Sunday night with a 4-3 victory. 10,011 were present for the pwning at FirstEnergy Park.

Justin Jacome started for the Hoppers, and didn't last very long. He gave up three earned runs on five hits and three walks in just 1.2 innings. Fortunately for him (and the rest of the Grasshoppers), the pitching trio of Ben Meyer, Jose Quijada, and CJ Robinson combined to allow a walk and three hits over 7.1 innings, striking out seven. Meyer (2-4, 4.20) earned the win, while Robinson was credited with his 14th save. Tyler Gilbert (4-7, 4.16) lost for Lakewood.

The Grasshoppers scored first, with two runs in the top of the second inning on a Zach Sullivan two-RBI double. Lakewood took the lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring three runs on a Wilson Garcia bases-loaded double.

Greensboro tied it in the top of the third, when Josh Naylor successfully stole third base, then crossed the plate when pitcher Tyler Gilbert threw it over the third baseman's head trying to catch him. The Hoppers took the lead in the next inning with what would be the last run of the game and eventual game-winner on a Justin Twine RBI-groundout.

The Hammerheads dropped their third game in three days to the Fort Myers Miracle, 7-0 at CenturyLink Sports Complex with 8,222 in attendance.

Luis Castillo started for Jupiter and pitched six scoreless innings, limiting the Miracle to four hits while striking out eight. Castillo earned a GameScore of 76 and got 75% (63-of-84) of his offerings over the plate. Travis Ballew (0-1, 9.72) took the loss, giving up six runs in 1.1 innings. Luke Bard (1-1, 2.86) earned the win with three innings of shutout ball.

After losing five in a row, including the first three games of this series, the Suns have strung together consecutive victories for the first time in nearly three weeks, with a 9-2 victory over the 34-46 Tennessee Smokies. They played in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 10,238 at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Jake Esch (8-6, 4.11) got 54-of-73 pitches into the strike zone over seven innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and a walk. He struck out four and earned the win with a GameScore of 70. Tyler Skulina (3-7, 4.93) started and lost for the Smokies, giving up three earned runs on six hits and two walks in four innings. He struck out three and finished with a GameScore of 42.

The Zephyrs salvaged one-game-in-four to close out their series with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, defeating the mile-high club with a wild-and-wooly 12-8 affair in front of 8,753 at Security Service Field on Sunday night.

Jeremy Guthrie (5-5, 7.20) started for New Orleans, and earned the victory despite allowing 14 baserunners for eight earned runs in five innings. Josh Hader started for the Sox, allowing eight runs in four innings, while reliever Drew Gagnon (1-1, 7.15) took the loss, allowing three runs in three innings.

The Zeps started scoring in the top of the first inning, with a Xavier Scruggs (9) solo shot. Colorado Springs struck back for three in their half, on a Andy Wilkins RBI-triple, a Josmil Pinto RBI-single, and a wild pitch from Jeremy Guthrie.

New Orleans took the lead back in the next half inning with three runs of their own, scored on a Kenny Wilson two-RBI double and a throwing error on the same play by opposing catcher Rene Garcia which allowed Wilson to cross the plate for a 4-3 Zephyrs lead.

New Orleans made it 6-3 in the top half of the fourth, on RBI singles from Isaac Galloway and Jeremy Guthrie, but the Sox came back for five in the bottom half of the inning to take an 8-6 advantage on an Eric Young two-RBI triple, an Orlando Arcia RBI-groundout, and a Josmil Pinto two-run homer.

The Zephyrs struck back with their own five run inning in the top of the fifth to take an 11-8 lead, on a Destin Hood RBI-single, an Isaac Galloway RBI-single, a Jeremy Guthrie sacrifice fly, and a Robert Andino two-RBI single.

The score would remain 11-8 until the eighth inning, when the Zephyrs tacked on an insurance run with Xavier Scruggs' (10) second solo shot of the game.
