-Marlins manager Mike Redmond in favor of expanded instant replay despite some concerns | Fish Tank blog: Miami Marlins | The Palm Beach Post
Mike Redmond is in favor of expanding instant replay but the Marlins manager has some concerns that center around the pace of the game, the number of challenges available to managers and managers’ ability to see every play that could be questioned. "I think everyone’s in favor of getting the calls right," he said. Redmond said one issue for managers is their vantage point. Not all parts of the field are visible from the dugout, especially down the lines.
-Inspirational Miami Marlins fan has ties with Juan Pierre, Jack McKeon - Miami Marlins - MiamiHerald.com
Will Privette doesn’t claim to be the biggest Marlins fan. Or the oldest. Or even the loudest. But Privette, who said he "joined forces" with the Marlins in 2003 while growing up in North Carolina, is the only one who can say he made national news eight months ago in a chaotic scene that was replayed over and over on ESPN and elsewhere. Privette was the student in the wheelchair who was thrown to the basketball court after fellow classmates at North Carolina State stormed the floor following the Wolfpack’s upset victory over Duke — the same student who was rescued in the nick of time by N.C. State forward C.J. Leslie, who saw him lying on the court, about to be trampled in the melee.

A night after being outslugged, 14-10, by the Giants, the Marlins couldn't keep San Francisco in check again on Saturday. And a couple of plays not executed in the field, combined with four walks in the eighth inning, resulted in a sloppy loss. "We kind of gave that one away," Miami manager Mike Redmond said. -Miami Marlins: Placido Polanco OK after being hit in head by pitch - South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com
But a day after taking a 94-mile per hour fastball to the ear hole, Marlins veteran Placido Polanco said he's feeling surprisingly well. Silence fell over Marlins Park when the 0-2 pitch from Santiago Casilla struck Polanco in the eighth inning. His helmet flew off as trainers rushed to his side, but he was smiling just moments later. "Well the trainer asked me a real tough question like what day it was," Polanco said with a grin Saturday. "That's a question I wouldn't even know when I was OK. For a baseball player, that's the worst question you can ask."
