The passion to manage still fuels Ozzie Guillen. But Guillen said he would be willing to return as a coach — only with the Cubs — if asked. "I just make it very clear if they want me as a coach, the only team I will coach is the Cubs," said Guillen, who is working at the World Series as an analyst for ESPN Deportes. "The reason is I live there. I don't have to move my family in and out. As (for) a manager opening, if anyone is interested in me, at least give me an opportunity to express myself.

-Marlins Park to host Miami Beach Bowl - Sun Sentinel

Nick Carparelli didn't have a reason to doubt Claude Delorme. The Marlins' executive vice president of operations and events, Delorme told Carparelli Marlins Park could accommodate a regulation football field. When the Marlins cordoned off the dimensions to prove it, Carparelli — the American Athletic Conference's (AAC) senior associate commissioner — was sold. The result was a six-year agreement for Marlins Park to host the Miami Beach Bowl starting December 2014. "We measured it out and his people did a great job of coning it off so we could see how it laid out, and it fit very nicely," Carparelli said, during a press conference at Marlins Park Thursday.

-Samson: Marlins focused on improving pace of play | marlins.com: News

Getting calls on the field correct is vital, but so is the pace of game, says Marlins president David Samson. Major League Baseball is planning to adopt expanded replay review next season, which raises concerns that games will be lengthened. The way Samson sees it, there are positives and negatives to an increased number of replays under a challenge system. "Instant replay is very complicated," Samson said. "It's very costly, and you can see it delays the game. There is no doubt about it. The most important thing is to get plays right, but you want to get them right in a timely fashion. Our focus in Miami here is pace of game. The games are going too long."

Justice triumphed. And so did the St. Louis Cardinals. There will be much written and said about the "controversy" that ended Game 3 of the 2013 World Series. Where is the controversy when the umpires made the absolute correct call, immediately, in real time and with precise reasoning? It is time to give the umpires credit for being right the first time. This one ended with the umpires making a correct call and the Cards doing enough to deserve a victory.

-Umpires point to rulebook in explaining World Series game-ending obstruction call | MLB.com: News

What happened in the ninth inning of World Series Game 3 on Saturday night was one of the oddest endings in the long history of the Fall Classic, an obstruction call on Red Sox third baseman Will Middlebrooks that gave a hobbled Allen Craig the winning run in the Cardinals' crazy 5-4 victory. It's a call that will be met by decades-long dispute from Bostonians and somewhat sheepish-yet-satisfied glee from St. Louisans, whose Cards are now up 2-1 in this wacky World Series.
