3,000 people at Infosys were working on the Williams & Glyn project

Infosys has issued a statement regarding its work with Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to carve out the Williams & Glyn (W&G) subsidiarity.

Infosys was a W&G programme technology partner for consulting, application delivery and testing services.

It was working on the W&G project since 2013, but this came to an end earlier this month when RBS announced the IT challenges were too complex to continue with the carve-out. £345 million was written off by the bank.

According to the vendor’s statement, it “will carry out an orderly ramp-down of about 3,000 persons, primarily in India, over the next few months”.

However, RBS continues to be one of the largest customers for Infosys in the banking sector. Infosys describes the relationship between the two companies as “key” and the partnership as “strategic”.
