Manager, Applications Development & Maintenance ? A career defining opportunity exists for a Manager, Applications Development & Maintenance to join Roads and Maritime Services (RMS). The Manager, Applications Development and Maintenance will lead all development teams in promoting a customer centric culture where innovative practices are focused on delivering quality customer outcomes in a timely manner, whilst minimising risk to the business by maintaining the integrity of the solutions. The position is fully accountable for the provision of IT business solutions that are aligned with RMS IT Strategy and Transport Cluster enterprise wide architecture principles, to enable and support One RMS. The position is accountable for being a strategic advisor for buying or building decisions, ensuring customer outcomes will be delivered. Central to the key accountabilities of this role will be ensuring the delivery of application software development and maintenance based on agreed schedules and work plans. The successful applicant will lead a large team of IT specialists in a variety of technologies with a large portfolio of applications by managing, mentoring and developing staff whilst taking accountability for promoting a customer-centric ethos, and translating and integrating IM&IT's business objectives into section plans. In order to meet the challenges of this role the position holder will build an effective team of qualified and experienced staff, maintain industry best practice standards and achieve ongoing engagement and positive outcomes with partner agencies and vendors. Achieving a balance between processes, projects delivery, capacity building, agility and innovation will be central to this role. Applications are sought from candidates with appropriate tertiary qualifications in information management or demonstrated equivalent experience, with a background in applications development and the management of large development teams. Significant experience and proven record of success in a similar role, with a passion for emerging technologies and best practice software development in large environments, is additionally required. First class communications skills, with demonstrated experience in vendor management including negotiation with suppliers and clients, together with the ability to successfully lead and manage a team
