Job Summary:

To provide management and technical direction to the education programme in Nairobi county.

Main Duties &

Responsibilities:

Programme management and technical leadership at County Level

· Apply system strengthening approach in working with MoEST and TSC to improve management of schools, curriculum delivery, life skills education and safety

· Strengthen capacity of schools and communities to improve enrolment, attendance, learning outcomes and protection for Most Vulnerable Children

· Supervision of Concern officers and Local NGO partners in the county

· Develop and monitor implementation of County Annual and Quarterly workplan

· Conduct monitoring and quality assurance of programme activities

· Support MoEST collect, analyze and utilize monitoring data

· Generate reports that demonstrate results that include case studies and change stories

· Galvanize support for system strengthening approach to working with Government to County level Government and Civil Society actors

· Represent Concern in County level meetings

Responding to Emergencies:

· Participate and contribute as necessary towards Concern’s Emergency response as and when necessary

· Comply with Concern’s health, safety and security guidelines during emergencies

Programme Participant Protection Policy

· To adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.

Job Specification:

· A degree in Education or relevant field

· At least five (5) years’ experience in Primary Education and Protection with vulnerable children

· At least two (2) years’ experience in Early Grade Literacy interventions including assessments

· At least two (2) years’ experience in applying participatory approach in education programming.

· A Trainer of Trainer in participatory and adult learning technique

· Working knowledge of Project Cycle Management

· Strong data collection, analysis and report writing skills

· Good understanding of cross cutting issues - gender, HIV and AIDS, DRR

· Excellent interpersonal, communication and report writing skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams.

· Proficient in Computer applications

· Fluent in both spoken and written English and Kiswahili.

· Willingness and ability to work and live in Nairobi slums

· Experience working through local NGO partners in a development and emergency context is an added advantage.
