PATH seeks to recruit a Communication Media and Advocacy Officer for TB ARC project. The Program Officer will provide technical assistance (TA) to the Division of Leprosy, Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (DLTLD) within the Department of Health.
S/he will support division to conceptualize, design and implement the Communication, Media and Advocacy activities in line with the respective strategies.
The Program Officer will work closely with the Communication staff at the Division as well as other key stakeholders in the coordination of activities aimed at raising the profile, visibility and levels of response by the division.
He or she will work closely with staff from CHS and other implementing partners in the TB ARC project.
The project officer will coordinate media activities and activations to ensure sufficient coverage of the division and its activities.
The Project officer will liaise with CHS and the responsible officer at PATH to ensure the advocacy agenda of the division is met.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
To support the implementation of the TB ARC communication media and advocacy strategy.
To provide support to the communication and media work at NLTLD.
To report on the progress of the communication media and advocacy work plan including the coordination of the delivery of its outputs.
To oversee internal and external communication and media work to reach out more effectively to assigned project’ target audiences.
To ensure dissemination of communication messages relevant to various projects as required.
Monitor, analyze & document media coverage of TB activities as well as the division public activities.
To strengthen TBARC’s media relations as a tool to engage broader publics.
To represent the project at meetings with institutions and other external stakeholders as well as at conferences, seminars and other media events when required.
Contribute to the writing, editing and production of communication materials for the project including press briefing notes, press releases, the website and social media and ensure publication
Contribute in provision of technical assistance to the TBARC partners in all aspects of media and communications, including the development of promotional materials.
Prepare presentations when required.
Support documentation of project activities Lead the writing monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the TB ARC project and as may be assigned.
To participate in other activities as requested by the organization.
Provide updates at the regular implementing partners meetings about the communication and branding activities at the DLTLD as well as generate opportunities for partner interaction, magnification and linkages with the media campaigns.
Liaise with the M&E Advisor and the M&E Manager to ensure that communication activities are appropriately evaluated for impact.
Participate and assist in the development of all reports for the project including quarterly reports, annual, etc.
Develop content for the website and regularly update the site.
Liaise regularly with the Website manager to keep website content fresh and integrated with work from the mass media campaign.Required Skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of public health issues, especially related to primary healthcare;
Conversant with health issues especially those related to TB and HIV in Kenya.
Proven ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences, while observing sensitivity to cultural differences.
Strong working knowledge of computer programs and packages like Microsoft word, Excel, Power point.Required Experience
Degree in Communications or Community Development with experience in web design, digital media and social media.
Diploma in mass communication, marketing or advertising with over five years’ experience in digital communication maintaining Websites, social media engagement will be an added advantage.
6-8 years relevant field experience in development and management of mass media campaigns.
Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing mass media campaigns, prior experience as a Website administrator or Web creator is desired.
Working knowledge and experience with behavior change communication methodologies and measuring impact of BCC interventions.
Ability to work as a team player and be a problem solver.
Dedicated and committed to high quality results and willing to work beyond regular hours.You must currently have legal authorization to work in Kenya.
