Qantas Australia has offered a new way to earn more Qantas Frequent Flyer points online. Using the free Qantas Toolbar, Frequent Flyer members can earn up to one point per eligible Yahoo!7 search. The add-on also allows one click to Qantas bookings online and real-time flight availability information - perfect for seamless travelling.
So, what does the toolbar actually do?
How does it work?
Qantas Frequent Flyer members who use the toolbar can earn up to 150 points per month by using the toolbar or Yahoo!7 on an eligible internet search. Members need to be login to their Frequent Flyer account to begin earning points.
How many points can I earn?
The maximum amount of points that can be earned is 150 per month; which equates to 1,800 per year.
What is the maximum value I can earn?
1,800 Is the maximum amount of points that can be earned per year - equivalent to $13.30 of Myer or David Jones gift card value at the Qantas Store.
How is the toolbar information used?
Qantas use the toolbar to collect de-identified marketing information based on your internet searches. You may receive offers based on these searches.
When you download the QFF toolbar, it asks you to consent that "I understand that Qantas may use this information to market relevant products, services and offers to me." Earning points using this tool is a trade-off that Qantas will collect marketing data on your shopping habits.

How do you add the toolbar?
We thought we’d help you out with the assistance of screen shots of how to install the Qantas Toolbar.
Firstly, click this link to go to the Qantas site to download the toolbar. From there, click the ‘Download Now’ button. The link will automatically detect your browser to get you the correct version.

An installation box will pop up and require you to tick the three terms and conditions requirements. Tick them if you wish to proceed and click ‘Next’.
The following screen is the last step before the application downloads. You can untick the box ‘Make Yahoo!7 my browser’s default search provider’, if you don’t wish to mess with your current browser settings. You don’t need to make Yahoo!7 your default browser to download or use the Qantas Toolbar.
Once the file downloaded, double click it.
Here are the filenames so that you know that you are installing the right downloaded file:

The above security warning will appear. Click ‘Run’ to proceed. You’ll be required to close your browser to finish the installation. Once the installation is complete, your browser will usually ask your permission before it is added and ready to go live.
If you’re happy with the rather scary security warning. Click ‘Add’. The Qantas Toolbar adds to Google Chrome as this rather small icon to the right of your search bar. Click on the grey Qantas kangaroo icon to bring the toolbar up.
Log in to by entering your membership number, surname and pin and you’re all done! You can begin searching to earn extra free QFF points.
How do I remove the Qantas Toolbar from my computer?
The process differs depending on the browser you have, as such all three will be outlined below separately.
Uninstall for Google Chrome
Go to the Control Panel in Windows. Click on the ‘Programs and Features’ icon.
Scroll down until you see ‘Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar’. Right click it and then select ‘Uninstall’. You must click ‘Yes’ on the popup to give permission for the uninstall program to complete.
You’ll have to close Chrome before proceeding by clicking ‘Yes’ on yet another pop up. Your toolbar is now uninstalled.
Uninstall for Internet Explorer
Go to the Control Panel in Windows. Click on the ‘Programs and Features’ icon.
Scroll down until you see ‘Qantas Frequent Flyer Toolbar’. Right click it and then select ‘Uninstall’. You must click ‘Yes’ on the popup to give permission for the uninstall program to complete.
You’ll have to close Chrome before proceeding by clicking ‘Yes’ on yet another pop up. Your toolbar is now uninstalled.

Scroll down until you see ‘Qantas toolbar for internet explorer’. Right click it and then select ‘Uninstall’. You must click ‘Yes’ on the popup to give permission for the uninstall program to complete. A few seconds later, the uninstall will be complete.
Uninstall for Mozilla Firefox
In the Firefox browser, click Ctrl + Shift + A. This will bring you to the menu below:
Click on ‘Extensions’.
Find ‘Qantas Airways Toolbar’ from your extensions and click ‘Disable’
The toolbar will be removed next time for restart your computer, or you can click the ‘Restart now’ link to immediately remove it.
