A round-up of what we’re loving this week... and what we’re hating.

THE BEST

Torah Bright.

Not only is she a mad chick snowboarder, but she just won Australia’s first medal at Sochi 2014, getting silver in the ladies’ halfpipe.

Internet trolling.

For good, that is. After a restaurant owner in Oklahoma, USA, launched a tirade of homophobic comments on a local news station, claiming “I really don’t want gays around”, the internet retaliated by leaving reviews on Yelp saying it was “the best gay and/or BDSM club in or around Oklahoma”. Karma, meet justice.

Sexting.

Sexting just became a little bit safer. Hunter Moore, 2012’s ‘Most Hated Man On The Internet’ and purveyor of revenge porn, has been arrested for hacking into emails in the pursuit of dirty pics.

Beth Wales.

This all-round-awesome lady made waves this week when she posted nude photos of her post-cancer body, in an effort to raise awareness of the destructive nature of the disease. ‘Brave’ doesn’t even begin to cover it.

90s pop culture.

Marc Jacobs turned to the Power Rangers for inspiration for his New York Fashion Week show, as well as ninjas and BMX outfits. Oh, and played the theme song from Alice in Wonderland, which isn’t technically 90s but still nicely reminiscent of your childhood.

Tweethearts.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day comes an app you can use for your own nefarious purposes. Simply tweet to @tweethearts and you’ll get your message back in candy heart form. Use at will.

THE WORST

Valentino.

What do you do when a celeb carries your designer bag to a highly publicised funeral? Use it to leverage coverage, of course. At least, that’s what Valentino did when Amy Adams took their bag to the memorial of Philip Seymour Hoffman. They’ve since issued an apology.

Copenhagen Zoo.

For euthanising a surplus giraffe, dissecting him in front of children, and feeding him to the lions. Whatever their reasonings, there had to be a better way to deal with the animal than this.

Miranda Kerr’s family.

For making a public plea for her to come home. Um, you have infinite ways of communicating with her that don’t involve the ABC or the Australian public. Use them.

Nando’s.

For publishing the above. And also for getting loads of media coverage based on being a dick.
And we know that including it in our list makes us part of the problem, but whatever.

Valentine’s Day pressure.

You’re loved up, you’re single, you’re in that awkward we’re-sleeping-together-but-are-we-actually-dating circle of hell… Valentine’s Day packs on WAY too much pressure no matter your dating status. Just move through the day however you damn please.
