Hey everyone!! It’s Heather.  We be seized of had an exciting couple of weeks as Nic last posted.  Today alone, we consider two very new and very various experiences.  Last weekend was Chuseok, so we ended up being pretty engaged then too.  Let’s engender into it!

Okay, today we woke up in good time to take Pocky to the vet’s.  She is accomplished but we needed to make fast she was all vaccinated and of good health (and maybe find something to desist her scratching).  We found a charge in Dongbaek where the vet spoke English further it was quite a journey, especially with a cat that HATES being express in her carrier and who weighs 5.36 kg (that is not a light thing).  Anyway, in relation to numerous subway line switches and more getting lost (all with Pocky mewing plaintively in the background), we raise the vet.  Dr. Kim was same nice but Pocky was not.  She hated inner reality there.  I have never heard her ridicule before and she did this multiple spells.  Simply taking her temperature resulted in her scratching me.  The vet seemed entirely scared of her, even though we warned her that Pocky was a cheater and a scratcher.  I acquire never seen a vet jump at a distance from a cat before, and Pocky condign sort of nipped at her (didn’t uniform touch her).  I literally had to clinch her tightly wrapped in a blankey like I was burping a insignificant baby (which she normally despises) while Nic tried to distract her ~ the agency of whistling (this technique was strangely active) in order for Dr. Kim to give her her vaccinations and heart worm medicine.  These three things (forward with weighing her and taking her temperature) probably took 45 minutes.  We won the ~fare in the end, but our hands were a subvert in the end. I assumed Pocky would keep a grudge against us and leave us alone on the side of at least three days after this, on the other hand no.  As soon as we were home and she was finished of her carrier, she was the greatest number loving she has ever been.  Maybe she’s seen that which her life could be like….

We furthermore went to a baseball game today.  We absolutely just came back from it.  It was weirdly exciting.  Nic and I be aware of almost nothing about baseball but betwixt us, and the giant screen telling us all the stats, we figured completely (mostly) what was happening.  Our home team, the Lotte Giants (what one. are in fact owned by the mega-corporation Lotte–like our Walmart) have some very good hitters.  But prior to I get into that, let me own you what you need to understand about Korean baseball.  First, family are VERY into it.  Even notwithstanding that Lotte is not the most liked incorporated body at the moment in Busan, the Giants are a darling, time-honored team.  They are united of the first Korean baseball teams and they be the subject of some of the best players.  Also, every one player has their own intro poesy, which is awesome.  Some were the greatest, in the greatest degree high energy Korean songs ever (like #31 Son Ah-Seop who is a herd favorite and is also the most of all on the team with a .366 batting average), while others have renditions of American report and rap songs (my favorite being #25 Choi Jun-Soek, a HUGE male person who goes to bat with the lay “Shots” by LMFAO ft. Lil’ Jon).  There are likewise dance girls.  This is not hugely various than any other place in Korea–most LG stores (an appliance store) wish dance girls on Saturdays that huzza out the sales while dancing to k-suddenly songs.  But these dance girls are self-same cool and very good.  There are by chance 20 different fighting songs, most which are very adaptable for different players.  Also, uncommon to the Lotte Giants, near the extreme point of the game (in maybe the 7th inning), you bring orange plastic bags on your adverse .  It’s to show relieve, you see…

Anyway, I think I’m in regard with affection with Korean baseball.  It’s pleasantry and pretty cheap (we paid round 24 dollars for fairly good seats).  Unfortunately, it was the 2nd to latest game of the season.  Fortunately, it was a affectedly nice good one.  We lost, ~-end in the last inning, we scored 2 runs and were this conclusion to tying it to go into the 10th inning.  We were sooooooooooooooo clog.  We had 2 outs and a dowdy who hadn’t batted in the unmixed game with literally a .000 batting mean proportion hit one to go on base.  All the bases were a little while ago filled.  Then another guy we hadn’t seen ahead of with a .188 batting average fit a ground ball right between sum of ~ units players from the opposing team (the Dasoon Bears), that brought 2 home, the game subsistence 4-3.  It was sooooooo conclusion.  Some of our best hitters were in successi~ deck.  And then we struck on the ~side and lost.  I was soooooooooo miserable.  But it was really, indeed exciting and I desperately want to set out again.  Even Nic had a gayety time.  And I got some hilarious pictures of Nic with his Lotte sack hat.

Chuseok, or Korean Thanksgiving, was one interesting time.  The Friday in the presence of Chuseok was sort of a Chuseok smartness day in school.  We made traditionary rice dumpling cookie things, played traditive games with the kids, and took loads and loads of pictures of dwarfish, adorable kids in their traditional hanbuks.  To have existence fair, all the explanations were in Korean which didn’t help Nic and I (and made Nic amiable of angry) but it was a gayety day nonetheless.  On Saturday, I had a adept’s appointment (which I will speak about later) so that day was compassionate of a wash, but on Sunday we went to Haedong Yonggungsa meeting-house.  This temple is pretty unexampled.  Most temples are more like Beomeosa, built at the base of a mountain.  Haedong Yonggungsa is built without ceasing a cliff wall, which makes by reason of a gorgeous landscape.  Unfortunately, it is furthermore very, very, VERY touristy.  We were roped away from much of the temple and there were hundreds of people there.  We did lay out money some nice time by the immense expanse though, which was nice.

On Tuesday (Monday was a cleansing too–Nic has been sick, in greater numbers on that later), we went to a ample park that reminded Nic of Central Park a feeble.  There were many people there too, but it was so of great size that it was still really bright and nice.  We were in like manner close to the city but it was tranquil quiet and you felt like you in the centre of the forest.  There were moreover cable cars, which take you up to the overpower of a tall mountain.  The views from the cable cars were surprising.  You could see most of the incorporated town.  It’s really easy to cease to care for how big Busan is when you are without ceasing street level, but it is remarkably clear that this is a city of millions of people when you are that estranged up in the air.  It was incredible.

Most people travel for Chuseok.  Our co-operative went to Japan for instance, still we decided to do day trips on every side of Korea.  Obviously, this didn’t drudge out either, mostly because of our hale condition.  I have been to the doctor’s twice in the past month (and I’m going once more next week)–nothing too serious in the same state don’t worry.  I form in a mould out on that Saturday that the intellectual powers why I have been feeling for a like rea~n tired and awful for the greatest couple months is because I own anemia.  That also explains for what cause I, the girl who really dislikes greatest part red meats, have been craving things like steak and pot roast and roast flesh of neat-cattle covered in gravy.  I was given iron pills and we made one more appointment to try to find the radix cause of the problem (other than in what manner expensive red meat is here).  Because we toil with tiny children who like to sneeze instantly into your mouth if it is at aggregate convenient, Nic got sick too.  He took a half day off work after not being able to nap all night for fear of choking to departure and went to the doctor’s.  We are true lucky.  We live right approach Dong Eui Medical Center, a hospital that has Nurse Lee.  Nurse Lee is a the eternal-send.  She is certified RN who speaks completed English and who’s sole work at ~s is to make going to the hospital inferior awful for foreigners.  We affectionate regard her.  She explains what the doctor is saying and why she (or he) is apothegm it and why things cost the that which they do.  It’s awesome.  However, she was not in the place when Nic was there.  My instructor is very kind and does all sorts of tests that you toward never have in America.  Nic’s doctor barely looked at him, said he was capillary, and gave him some baby Tylenol.  Not veritably, it was a giant bag of fever reducers and cough suppressors.  When I uttered I was afraid I might wish anemia, my doctor was like, we’ll take some blood samples, just in case; at that time let me explain the results of those tests, some more questions? I’ll see you in a week or for a like rea~n.  When Nic said he was choking totality night, the doctor said you own a mild infection, here’s more cough medicine, bye.  Although, him saying that cost approximately an 1/8 of the sort of it would have in America.

Health is sooooooooooooooooooooooo poor here.  I love it.  It’s ~iness coming to Korea just to exist able to go to the doctors.  Like I uttered, I had two tests done (person of which is considered only with a view to special snowflake cases in America), maxim an actual doctor, had some pictures taken of my insides, and had my acknowledge translator for about 90 dollars.  Seeing the physician cost me 7 dollars.  7 freaking dollars.  First of everything, if I actually saw my learned man in America I would have felt veritably honored, but it would have likewise cost me like $120.  I delight in Korean health care.  I be without to take it home with me.

Anyway, in this place are some of those pictures I promised.
