4 Lies Money Wasters Tell Themselves

Standing on the shop and wanting to spend a fortune on the tons of merchandise that are around you, this is a normal happening for most of us that have shopping urges, yet deep down we do know the consequences of spending a fortune and so we tend to hold back for a while. Right at that moment a voice pops in the head and tells us exactly what we want to hear, sending us into spending frenzy.

This is something that is likely to have happened to nearly all of us at some point or the other. Yet when it comes to people who waste money, these voices and lies tend to come up in the head all too regularly. Here is a list of the 4 common lies that money wasters tell themselves:

“Although it is so much more expensive, it is of the highest quality and I’ll never replace it”

Some products genuinely do come with lifetime guarantees while other is just plain and simple extremely expensive. When you go out to buy something you are best advised to stay realistic and look for alternatives instead of simply going in and buying the most expensive option in the market. Sometimes expensive products do have a higher quality but you have to carefully look at the difference in price and the difference in quality together and outweigh each with the other and see what wins.

“This deal is just impossible to pass up, it’s so good”

While you will always go into the market and find deals that are great on value and offer a good chance to spend the money. It is important to note that there is nothing that’s impossible to pass up especially if you don’t have a need for it. For example, buying a new and improved fridge just because it’s going cheap won’t make the previous one less effective and it will be seen as a waste of money.

“I can’t imagine my existence without it”

Yes you can! You can definitely live a happy, healthy life without having to buy your favourite goods crazily. Emotions are deeply connected to our spending ability and when it comes to spending or showing restraint there can be several emotional battles that come up repeatedly.

“If I buy in bulk I’ll save myself Money”

This statement is relatively true. The cost of buying large quantities of something in bulk is lesser than buying them all separately each. Yet there is another aspect of bulk buying which can easily mean your money used on bulk buying can go out in the drain. If you buy in bulk you should make sure that you are going to be able to use all of them. Failure to do so would result in complete wasting of the money spent on buying such large quantities.

If you tend to waste money and can relate to these lies to encourage spending, make sure you outwit yourself and refuse to be fooled by these lies that your mind tells you.
