Flipkart, today said that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CSC SPV (CSC e-Governance Services India Limited) which will enable the eCommerce giant help Common Service Centers (CSCs). The mission which is called “Flipkart Karigaar ke Dwaar”, will leverage the eCommerce giant’s platform.

The MoU lays emphasis on development of ancillary industries (packaging, logistics) and employment avenues in rural areas, reducing rural migration and enhancing the revenue generation opportunities of CSCs.

The partnership will offer rural artisans and MSME’s the opportunity to build and establish their brands nationally, access to financial, marketing and supply chain support and at the same time will generate employment and enhance rural economy.

Commenting on this partnership, Joy Bandekar, Corporate President, Flipkart said, “India is home to millions of rural artisans and we believe that as India’s largest marketplace platform, we can offer them a larger platform to grow and expand their businesses. This partnership with CSC SPV will help us provide the rural artisan and MSME community the support needed to market their products across the country.”

This will create the right environment for cluster development across the country and make CSC’s a beehive of economic development thus igniting the spark for the Make in India initiative. Our focus is to develop these communities and make them economically self-sufficient and also develop ancillary industries which will contribute toward employment generation.”

Dr. Dinesh Tyagi, CEO –CSC SPV commented, “We are delighted to partner with Flipkart to help the MSME’s sell their products directly to buyers across the nation. This one of its kind initiative will not only create huge employment opportunities but will also reduce the migration of rural population to the urban areas, which is a positive trend for a developing economy like India. It will also make Flipkart’s current showcase of products available to rural India.”

This initiative aims to enhance rural entrepreneurship through successful eCommerce models like that of Flipkart, possible only by using technology which is proven, secure and simple to use even for a rural customer.
