LIVE Two Years of Modi govt: To mark the completion of two years of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, the government has organised a mega event at India Gate in New Delhi today. The show had started with the theme song for the Narendra Modi government’s two year anniversary – ‘Mera Desh Badal Raha hai’. Actor Amitabh Bachchan, who hosted a segment for the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, said, “Big B is just a name people in the media have given me.”Big B is just a name people in the media have given me.” The show ‘Zara Muskura Do’ (Smile Please) – had several performances and programmes highlighting its “achievements”. A number of film stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Vidya Balan, Anupam Kher, Anil Kapur and Prasun Joshi, attended the event.

LIVE BJP celebrates 2 years of Modi govt: “India is growing much faster compared to the world, but I feel India could do better. It is difficult to maintain growth when the rest of the world is faring poorly,” Union minister Arun Jaitley said at the programme.
Participating in the first segment on young Parliamentarians, Union minister Rajyavardhan Rathore said, “If there’s someone who is the youngest in our cabinet it is Narendra Modi”.
The show is being broadcast simultaneously from India Gate in Delhi and other landmarks such as Mumbai’s Gateway of India, Jaipur’s Amer Fort and Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel Memorial. Other stars from Bollywoood, who are attending the programme, will speak about the government projects they are associated with. Vidya Balan will speak about Swachch Bharat, the Clean India campaign she has been promoting with the Rural and Urban Development Ministry. Anil Kapoor will speak about the power of youth, Raveena Tandon about Women’s Rights and Development, and Juhi Chawla about infrastructure.
The in-studio event focuses on the government’s schemes for farmers, women, youth, marginalised sections as well as for infrastructure and economy.
It comprises panel discussions, case studies and performances, both Bollywood and folk.
Case studies will showcase success stories of the Modi government’s schemes such as Beti Bachao Beti Padao, Swachch Bharat, rural electrification programme, Digital India, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.
It has been proposed that PM Modi speak towards the end of the show on “a government of firsts”.
A private event management company has conceptualised and executed the event on behalf of the National Film Development Corporation. Regarding the expenditure sanctioned by his ministry for the event, Rathore said, “We have not approved any money. It is a DD programme, they will handle the expenditure.”
