Call them what you will – voucher, discount or promotional codes, the chances are that they seem almost impossible to find for insurance related products – below, here are the reasons why…

…for a start it is likely that we aren’t the first or the only site that you’ve checked today – and you may even plan on checking more sites in search of that elusive code. We don’t blame you; thousands of others try each day without any luck; our advice is to understand why this is and then save yourself some time!

Why are insurance promotional codes so hard to find?

At the moment, the insurance sector is slow to adopt and use promotional codes on a regular basis Whilst most insurers have the box to insert a code on their purchase pages, which is encouraging, very few actually offer a usable code at any given time. For example, only the likes of Tesco and Natwest have actually offered a working code in the whole of 2016 so far, which may come as something of a surprise given the number insurers that seem to encourage you to search!

Is it worth checking other sites?

Honestly, and you may think we are biased – but it is actually not worth hunting around. At the moment, most insurance companies are offering the same codes (if there is one available) or nothing at all, which is the case most of the time. We are in contact with insurers, and they communicate to us when they do have active codes (and deals or offers). Effectively, we check for new codes everyday and publish their latest offers and deals instead.

I often find codes vary between different voucher code’s sites? So why not check more….

Remember that in other sectors (excluding finance/insurance) it is common for advertising partners to be given exclusive codes, such as ‘5% off all ASOS Women’s Wear’ with MyVoucherCodes and a different offer with VoucherCodes.com such as ‘Free delivery at ASOS’. Which is why normally we say it would be worth checking out different voucher code sites, but…unfortunately as we already mentioned the insurance sector just isn’t the same at the moment? It is, however, likely that this will change in the not too distant future which is why we would encourage you to check back on our site the next time you come to renew your car insurance!

The Quotes Process

The process of getting your quotes and final insurance premium down to a reasonable cost can be a long and drawn-out process. For many, it’s a matter of principal in the belief that their insurance should yield greater savings each year, whilst for others it’s a hassle and headache that they can live without – hence why so many people renew each year without even shopping around.

The simple fact is that the first year’s insurance quoted by most companies is usually their most competitive price as they understand that you are an acquisition. It is not uncommon for an insurance company to even lose money on the first year policy of a new customer. Their hope is that they can then retain the customer and make money back in subsequent years, and this is the key reason why you should never take up your renewal premium.

The fact of the matter is that the process of shopping around each year isn’t that difficult and can be tackled in a structured fashion which will save you time and money. Some may think that it’s not worth the effort to get the saving, but if you consider that you have the potential to easily save £100+ from a single hour of ‘work’, then this starts to look like a job that is difficult to refuse.
