:Because FA used to be somewhat a sideicon, but since we went full-time sideicon we decided (I think it was actually JBed's decision) to make it as fully-fledged sideicon, as well as add GA, and maintenance icons as sideicons.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 11:47, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

::I don't think everyone quite understands it. Because a lot of users are just adding sideicons to any article that looks like it might lack one whether or not it needs maintenance. :::I don't know what you are talking about. :p
+
:::I'll give the origin story just once more: FA icon looked terrible in Oasis. We needed to add a GA icon so I thought we needed a better system. In Monobook I thought of the system it now uses, and for Oasis I thought of adding the sidebar. But two rarely used icons seemed too few for a system that can fit five on a row. So I thought adding maintenance templates might be a good idea. Then I believe Cat suggested (it might have been me, but I'll attribute the idea to cat) that we can use it to state what releases are covered on the page.
+
:::As the box is labelled in Oasis, "Article information". The icons are there to give information about the article. The FA and GA state the accolades the article has received, the maintenance icons state where the page needs to be improved, and the release icons state what releases are covered on the page.
+
:::Nothing to do with the good or the bad. You can just look at the icons to quickly understand more about the page. JBed (talk) 15:12, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

I've noticed one issue with the side icons as i was browsing it using on my macbook and safari, that being the words seem to align to the top (essentially cropping off the top border of the text). it displays fine on my windows laptop with chrome tho.--Arciele Spira (talk) 13:48, October 7, 2013 (UTC)

:Uh, browser differences. I went on my Chrome [Windows 7] and saw it was off, so I made some changes and it looks alright. Then I noticed the monobook Chrome issue you were probably speaking of and just sort of fixed that. JBed (talk) 15:05, October 7, 2013 (UTC)
