Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of February 25th-March 3rd that I have pre-ordered.

WHITE HOT KISS by Jennifer L. Armentrout will be released in the U.S. on February 25, 2014 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Harlequin Teen, the print edition is 400 pages.

WHITE HOT KISS is the first full-length novel in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s The Dark Elements series. The second full-length book, STONE COLD TOUCH, is slated for release in November 2014.

I am so excited for this new series by author Jennifer L. Armentrout and can’t wait for my Kindle copy of WHITE HOT KISS to download on Monday Midnight. While I just recently grabbed an eARC, I wasn’t able to read it prior to its release but I will be reading the finished copy in the next couple of weeks.

I love that the main character in this story is part demon, part gargoyle. And I’m curious to learn how she manages to hide her darker nature. But I’m most interested in finding out whether a love triangle will develop between Layla, Zayne and Roth. This author really knows how to write angsty romance.

Plus, with the prospect of a demon uprising and the end of the world, this new series sounds awesome and I can’t wait to read it. I just have to decide whether or not to read the novella first.

Description…

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she’s anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she’s crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she’s not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she’s the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

FIRE & FLOOD by Victoria Scott will be released in the U.S. on February 25, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Scholastic Press, the print edition is 320 pages.

FIRE & FLOOD is the first book in Author Victoria Scott’s new series of the same name. The second book in the series is currently untitled.

I am so excited that FIRE & FLOOD releases this week and that everyone will get the chance to read it. I can’t wait for the finished copy to download to my Kindle, especially as my eARC is a little mixed up and I’m definitely planning on reading this story again.

As I’ve already spotlighted it for my Book Watch post and I just posted my review for this earlier today, I don’t think I should ramble on and on about it. But it was a wonderful surprise. I absolutely loved the Pandoras – and Tella and Guy. And I really can’t wait for the sequel to come out.

It was such a great read that I’m hoping to be able to read it again in early April when I take my sailing class that will leave me on a boat for two nights with nothing but a Kindle to keep me company. It’s just one of those stories that you can easily get lost in and I have a feeling I’m going to need it.

Book watch

Description…

A modern day thrill ride, where a teen girl and her animal companion must participate in a breathtaking race to save her brother’s life—and her own.

Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can’t determine what’s wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She’s lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she’s helpless to change anything.

Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It’s an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother’s illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there’s no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race.

The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can’t trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?

GRIM by Christine Johnson, Kimberly Derting, et al will be released in the U.S. on February 25, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON (HC)/AMAZON (eBook) and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Harlequin Teen, the print edition is 480 pages.

I absolutely love fairy tales and can’t wait for GRIM‘s release this week. I grabbed an eARC for review for the tour I’ll be on later this week and I read the two stories I have for my stop and loved them. But I can’t wait for the finished copy to download so I can read a few more.

Part of the fun with this anthology is trying to determine which stories relate to which fairy tales. Part of it is being able to experience each of these long favored stories in a new way, with a new voice.

I don’t typically read anthologies from cover to cover, but whenever I have a few moments to spare I will definitely be picking this up and checking out one or two.

Description…

Inspired by classic fairy tales, but with a dark and sinister twist, Grim contains short stories from some of the best voices in young adult literature today: Ellen Hopkins, Amanda Hocking, Julie Kagawa, Claudia Gray, Rachel Hawkins, Kimberly Derting, Myra McEntire, Malinda Lo, Sarah Rees-Brennan, Jackson Pearce, Christine Johnson, Jeri Smith Ready, Shaun David Hutchinson, Saundra Mitchell, Sonia Gensler, Tessa Gratton, Jon Skrovan.

THE SECRET DIAMOND SISTERS by Michelle Madow will be released in the U.S. on February 25, 2014 in paperback and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Harlequin Teen, the print edition is 400 pages.

THE SECRET DIAMOND SISTERS is the first book in a new series by Author Michelle Madow. The second book in the series, DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH, is slated for release on October 28, 2014.

I received an ARC for review of THE SECRET DIAMOND SISTERS but I also pre-ordered a copy for my Kindle to show my support for the author. It was a super quick read and a lot of fun.

As the description is very cryptic I don’t want to say too much about what happens in this book. And as I plan on writing and posting a review this week, schedule permitting, I don’t want to end up sounding too redundant.

But it was a light and entertaining read with a chance to get to know a few of the characters through a story told in multiple point’s of view. And as it’s just the first book in a series, I’m curious to see where things are headed.

Description…

Savannah. Courtney. Peyton.

The three sisters grew up not knowing their father and not quite catching a break. But it looks like their luck is about to change when they find out the secret identity of their long-lost dad—a billionaire Las Vegas hotel owner who wants them to come live in a gorgeous penthouse hotel suite. Suddenly the Strip’s most exclusive clubs are all-access, and with an unlimited credit card each, it should be easier than ever to fit right in. But in a town full of secrets and illusion, fitting in is nothing compared to finding out the truth about their past.

FAKING NORMAL by Courtney C. Stevens will be released in the U.S. on February 25, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperTeen, the print edition is 336 pages.

I have long been awaiting the release of FAKING NORMAL, ever since I first heard about it ages and ages ago. And I was so totally excited that it would be downloading to my Kindle this week until I noticed that I had apparently grabbed an eARC and could have read it already – though even if I had known, I would be just as anxiously awaiting this in its final format.

The description and this book’s title make me just so curious about what happened to Alexi and Bodee and how they are able to help each other. It promises a story that is “searing” and “poignant” which makes me even more intrigued by it. I am expecting a story with characters I will either sympathize or empathize with and possibly one that will break my heart a little.

While this next week is going to be absolutely crazy IRL, I really hope to get this on the pile during the first two weeks in March.

Description…

An edgy, realistic, and utterly captivating novel from an exciting new voice in teen fiction.

Alexi Littrell hasn’t told anyone what happened to her over the summer. Ashamed and embarrassed, she hides in her closet and compulsively scratches the back of her neck, trying to make the outside hurt more than the inside does.

When Bodee Lennox, the quiet and awkward boy next door, comes to live with the Littrells, Alexi discovers an unlikely friend in “the Kool-Aid Kid,” who has secrets of his own. As they lean on each other for support, Alexi gives him the strength to deal with his past, and Bodee helps her find the courage to finally face the truth.

A searing, poignant book, Faking Normal is the extraordinary debut novel from an exciting new author-Courtney C. Stevens.

Description:

For Macallan and Levi, it was friends at first sight. Everyone says guys and girls can’t be just friends, but these two are. They hang out after school, share tons of inside jokes, their families are super close, and Levi even starts dating one of Macallan’s friends. They are platonic and happy that way.

Eventually they realize they’re best friends — which wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t keep getting in each other’s way. Guys won’t ask Macallan out because they think she’s with Levi, and Levi spends too much time joking around with Macallan, and maybe not enough time with his date. They can’t help but wonder . . . are they more than friends or are they better off without making it even more complicated?

From romantic comedy superstar Elizabeth Eulberg comes a fresh, fun examination of a question for the ages: Can guys and girls ever really be just friends? Or are they always one fight away from not speaking again — and one kiss away from true love?

There are an insane number of books releasing this week, but as of right now I only have five YA titles pre-ordered and two non-YA titles (HOUSE OF GLASS and FIFTY FIRST TIMES). But I’m pretty sure I’ll be grabbing books by Jessica Brody, Elizabeth Eulberg, Seth Fishman, and maybe one or two others before the week ends.

Things only get more crazy over the next month in terms of book releases, which makes me think I need to find a different way to create these posts as between researching releases, writing down my thoughts and posting all the details, they take anywhere from six to eight hours to create… more if I end up with close to ten books I’m pre-ordering.

My wallet is still not happy as I often acquire books mid-week. But at least all those charges don’t hit on one day.

I can’t wait to start reading WHITE HOT KISS by Jennifer L. Armentrout. I was hoping to get the chance to read it early, but my reading pile was just too crowded by the time I got my hands on a copy. And I can’t believe I forgot that I had an advance copy of FAKING NORMAL or I definitely would have read that pre-release.

Oh well… finished copies are always better, right?

Anyway… I hope that you get your hands on a copy of one or more of the awesome books releasing this week. There are just so many books that sound like fantastic reads that I hadn’t heard of before but I will definitely be taking a longer look at. Are any of this week’s releases new on your radar?

As always, happy bookish acquiring and reading this week!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
