Below are the YA books releasing this week that I am spotlighting for my “Book Watch: Releasing This Week” post.

These are books for the week of February 4th-February 10th that I have pre-ordered.

PRINCE OF SHADOWS by Rachel Caine will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by NAL Hardcover, the print edition is 368 pages.

“O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou, Romeo?” Apparently he’s here, in Rachel Caine’s latest novel PRINCE OF SHADOWS and oh my gosh I am so excited for my pre-order to download.

I think Rachel Caine is an amazing writer – I am madly in love with her characters – and I can’t wait to read her retelling of the tragic tale of the Capulets and Montagues.

I love that Benvolio Montague sees Rosaline and a curse falls on Verona that rewrites their fates. I am dying to see just how this story changes because of his actions. And I really hope to be able to do so next weekend… if I can wait that long.

Description…

A thrilling retelling of the star-crossed tale of Romeo and Juliet, from the New York Times bestselling author of the Morganville Vampires series.

In the Houses of Montague and Capulet, there is only one goal: power. The boys are born to fight and die for honor and—if they survive—marry for influence and money, not love. The girls are assets, to be spent wisely. Their wishes are of no import. Their fates are written on the day they are born.

Benvolio Montague, cousin to Romeo, knows all this. He expects to die for his cousin, for his house, but a spark of rebellion still lives inside him. At night, he is the Prince of Shadows, the greatest thief in Verona—and he risks all as he steals from House Capulet. In doing so, he sets eyes on convent-bound Rosaline, and a terrible curse begins that will claim the lives of many in Verona…

…And will rewrite all their fates, forever.

CRESS by Marissa Meyer will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Feiwel & Friends, the print edition is 560 pages.

CRESS is the third full-length book in Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles. The fourth book in the series, WINTER, is slated for release in 2015.

I am so excited that not only will my Kindle copy of CRESS download this week but that the lovely print edition will arrive so that I can add it to my collection. I am currently mid-read and I am wildly in love with this third book in the series. It might just be my favorite yet.

I don’t know how things will end. I just know that I am totally riveted. And that I’d much rather be continuing to read CRESS instead of rambling about it here and now in this post.

Marissa Meyer is an amazing and imaginative storyteller and with each book in this series she continues to wow me. And as excited as I am to reach this story’s end, I am sad that this series will end with WINTER. Hm… maybe I should have waited to start reading CRESS so I could have further delayed the inevitable.

Description…

Rapunzel’s tower is a satellite. She can’t let down her hair—or her guard.

In this third book in the bestselling Lunar Chronicles series, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, who has been trapped on a satellite since childhood with only her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker—unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing stop her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only ones who can.

THE SOUND OF LETTING GO by Stasia Ward Kehoe will be released in the U.S. on February 6, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Fiking Juvenile, the print edition is 400 pages.

I feel like I’ve been waiting for ages for THE SOUND OF LETTING GO‘s release date. And in just a few more days I’ll finally get the chance to read this amazing-sounding book when it downloads to my Kindle.

I can’t wait to discover Daisy’s story, to see whether she’ll be able to completely break away from who she used to be or whether Cal will remind her of who she was and all that she gave up. I have no idea which choices I’ll root for, whose side I’ll be on, and whether I think Daisy should hold on or decide to let go.

If time permits I’d love to get this on my reading pile next week. But if not, I definitely plan on adding it to the pile after my exam on the 16th.

Description…

For sixteen years, Daisy has been good. A good daughter, helping out with her autistic younger brother uncomplainingly. A good friend, even when her best friend makes her feel like a third wheel. When her parents announce they’re sending her brother to an institution—without consulting her—Daisy’s furious, and decides the best way to be a good sister is to start being bad. She quits jazz band and orchestra, slacks in school, and falls for bad-boy Dave.

But one person won’t let Daisy forget who she used to be: Irish exchange student and brilliant musician Cal. Does she want the bad boy or the prodigy? Should she side with her parents or protect her brother? How can she know when to hold on and when—and how—to let go?

ALIENATED by Melissa Landers will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Disney-Hyperion, the print edition is 352 pages.

ALIENATED is the first book in a new series by Author Melissa Landers. The second book in the series, INVADED, is slated for release on February 3, 2015.

I had the chance to read ALIENATED early and I loved it and can’t wait for my Kindle copy to be added to my collection this week. Though if I spy this book in the bookstore this weekend and its cover is every bit as gorgeous as I think it will be, I may just have to add a print copy to the collection, too.

With the way things ended I’m just dying for the sequel and I can’t believe that’s 365 days from now. It’s too far away!

I loved meeting Cara and Aelyx. I loved the idea of the L’eihr exchange program. I loved discovering all the secrets… or most of them… and I am just so curious about where this story is headed in the next book. Things got pretty crazy there. Like when Cara found… oh, no that’s spoiler-y, not going to continue on with that thought.

If I haven’t lost the ability to wrangle my thoughts, I hope to be able to post a review next week. Of course I don’t plan on revealing any spoiler-y things there, either. But maybe I’ll tease just one or two of my favorite bits.

If that doesn’t happen, maybe when I add this to the pile again for a re-read – because yeah, I totally want to re-read this – I’ll be able to share just why I adore Aelyx, even though….

Description…

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara’s classmates get swept up by anti-L’eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn’t safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara’s locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she’s fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

SOMETHING REAL by Heather Demetrios will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), the print edition is 416 pages.

I am super excited for the release of SOMETHING REAL this week. I got the chance to read it early and I love, love, LOVED it. But it was a printed ARC and I can’t wait for the finished copy to download to my Kindle.

I am not surprised to hear that it won an award. This story was refreshingly original and such a surprise as it was quite a bit different from what I expected. But it was amazing and heartbreaking and heartwarming and so completely addictive. But not in the way that reality TV is addictive.

There is nothing mindless and empty about this book. The characters are sympathetic and likable and amazing and selfish and cruel and greedy and utterly despicable. But I loved getting to meet them all.

As I have read it recently I won’t be adding it to the pile in the next few, but this is one of those books that’s definitely re-readable and totally collection-worthy.

Description…

IGNITE ME by Tahereh Mafi will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HarperCollins, the print edition is 416 pages.

IGNITE ME is the third and final full-length book in Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me trilogy.

I almost can’t believe that in just a few short hours the final book in the Shatter Me series will be downloading to my Kindle. I am so excited and nervous and anxious and scared and sad and totally terrified about what I might discover in IGNITE ME.

It was the book I chose for my Book Watch post the other week so I really am not going to take the time to ramble here. I don’t think I have the appropriate words at my disposal to talk about how [insert better world than excited here] I am.

But I’m equally as terrified about what’s going to happen. I’m just as sad that this will be the end. I do not want to say goodbye to Warner or Adam or Kenji or Juliette or… anyone. I don’t want to say goodbye to this world, the beautiful writing. I don’t want it all to end.

But I will be reading it the second I get it. I will not let my fear keep me from reaching the end. Even if it means that I will be fighting back tears for the entire read.

Description…

The heart-stopping conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Shatter Me series, which Ransom Riggs, bestselling author of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, called “a thrilling, high-stakes saga of self-discovery and forbidden love”

Juliette now knows she may be the only one who can stop the Reestablishment. But to take them down, she’ll need the help of the one person she never thought she could trust: Warner. And as they work together, Juliette will discover that everything she thought she knew-about Warner, her abilities, and even Adam-was wrong.

In Shatter Me, Tahereh Mafi created a captivating and original story that combined the best of dystopian and paranormal and was praised by Publishers Weekly as “a gripping read from an author who’s not afraid to take risks.” The sequel, Unravel Me, blew readers away with heart-racing twists and turns, and New York Times bestselling author Kami Garcia said it was “dangerous, sexy, romantic, and intense.” Now this final book brings the series to a shocking and climactic end.

MISTWALKER by Saundra Mitchell will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in hardcover and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in both formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by HMH Books for Young Readers, the print edition is 320 pages.

I love Saundra Mitchell’s writing and pre-order every single book she releases, which includes MISTWALKER. Though until I created this post I hadn’t even read its description.

Though now that I have, I can’t wait for its release.

I am so very curious about this idea of the Grey Man who is really a young man trapped inside a lighthouse and forced to collect a thousand souls. I really hope that Willa doesn’t opt to trade places with him to help her family. But I am super curious as to what would happen if she did.

The description piqued my curiosity but has left me in the dark about what direction this story might take. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it on the pile later this month so I can find out.

Description…

When Willa Dixon’s brother dies on the family lobster boat, her father forbids Willa from stepping foot on the deck again. With her family suffering, she’ll do anything to help out—even visiting the Grey Man.

Everyone in her small Maine town knows of this legendary spirit who haunts the lighthouse, controlling the fog and the fate of any vessel within his reach. But what Willa finds in the lighthouse isn’t a spirit at all, but a young man trapped inside until he collects one thousand souls.

Desperate to escape his cursed existence, Grey tries to seduce Willa to take his place. With her life on land in shambles, will she sacrifice herself?

LANDRY PARK by Bethany Hagen will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in hardcover, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in hardcover and eBook formats at BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by Dial, the print edition is 384 pages.

LANDRY PARK is the first book in a new series of the same name by Author Bethany Hagen.

I have heard such amazing things about LANDRY PARK and I can’t wait for my pre-order copy to download. While I haven’t yet discovered Downton Abbey, I am a fan of THE SELECTION and am loving most things dystopia these days.

I can’t wait to meet Madeline Landry, find out whether she marries and runs the family estate as her father dictates or whether what she discovers and who she finds herself drawn to make her ditch her duty and instead choose her desire.

This sounds exactly like the type of story I want to read right now. And while I have a couple of books I’m in the midst of finishing, hopefully I’ll be able to sneak it onto the pile this weekend. If not, it will definitely be on the pile next week.

Description…

Downton Abbey meets The Selection in this dystopian tale of love and betrayal

In a fragmented future United States ruled by the lavish gentry, seventeen-year-old Madeline Landry dreams of going to the university. Unfortunately, gentry decorum and her domineering father won’t allow that. Madeline must marry, like a good Landry woman, and run the family estate. But her world is turned upside down when she discovers the devastating consequences her lifestyle is having on those less fortunate.

As Madeline begins to question everything she has ever learned, she finds herself increasingly drawn to handsome, beguiling David Dana. Soon, rumors of war and rebellion start to spread, and Madeline finds herself and David at the center of it all. Ultimately, she must make a choice between duty – her family and the estate she loves dearly – and desire.

WILD THINGS by Chloe Neill will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in paperback, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by New American Library, the print edition is 368 pages.

WILD THINGS is the ninth book in Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires series. BLOOD GAMES, the tenth book in the series, is slated for release on August 5, 2014.

Of course I had WILD THINGS pre-ordered. If I could pre-order every single book that remains in the series I would do it right this minute. I love these characters and this series. So I am totally stoked that WILD THINGS will be living on my Kindle in just a few short hours.

I had hoped to finish reading this story on Saturday, but I didn’t get the chance to finish it, though it is a super quick read. I may have gotten distracted by a few real-life things, but I should be finished before my Kindle copy is added to my collection.

As expected it’s an exciting addition to the series. Merit is one of my favorite non-YA heroines and I love getting caught up in her crazy life for a few hours twice a year. While I know that some day this series will end, it won’t be ending anytime soon. And I’m already excited for BLOOD GAMES’ release this summer. Though I am not going to peek at the description until I’m done reading WILD THINGS.

Description…

Since Merit was turned into a vampire, and the protector of Chicago’s Cadogan House, it’s been a wild ride. She and Master vampire Ethan Sullivan have helped make Cadogan’s vampires the strongest in North America, and forged ties with paranormal folk of all breeds and creeds, living or dead…or both.

But now those alliances are about to be tested. A strange and twisted magic has ripped through the North American Central Pack, and Merit’s closest friends are caught in the crosshairs. Gabriel Keene, the Pack Apex, looks to Merit and Ethan for help. But who—or what—could possibly be powerful enough to out-magic a shifter?

Merit is about to go toe to toe, and cold steel to cold heart, to find out.

BE WITH ME by J. Lynn will be released in the U.S. on February 4, 2014 in paperback, audio and eBook formats. It is currently available to pre-order online in all formats at AMAZON and in paperback and eBook formats BARNES & NOBLE.

Published by William Morrow Paperbacks, the print edition is 384 pages.

BE WITH ME is the second book J. Lynn’s Wait for You series. STAY WITH ME, the third book in the series, is slated for release in September 2014.

I am thrilled that BE WITH ME is releasing this week and that it will be added to my collection some time tonight. While I have the eARC for review and devoured it in one sitting late Friday, I definitely wanted the finished copy for my collection.

It hasn’t been very long since I met these characters in the first book (and its companion) in the series, but I was thrilled to get the chance to get to know them better. And I absolutely adore them both.

And as I will be writing a review for this book this week and rambling probably a bit too much about just why this book is awesome for my post on Friday, I will just say that I never expected to love this book and characters as much as I loved WAIT FOR YOU and its characters, but I did. J. Lynn has this wonderful way of creating stories and characters that are just so easy to love.

Now I just have to survive the long, long wait for September’s release of STAY WITH ME.

It’s another crazy week for YA releases. Heck, it’s a crazy release week all around. I have eight YA books, two non-YA books and one novella (STOLEN) pre-ordered. There’s also the possibility that I have VENGEANCE on my list of pre-orders. If not, I plan on clicking to buy on its release date. That’s a lot to read.

I’m just glad I read a couple of these books and am currently reading a few. But that still leaves way too many TBR, though I will be reading IGNITE ME as soon as it downloads.

I am so glad that next week is much, much quieter. I have so much to do IRL between now and mid-February that I just know I’m going to fall behind on my reads. I am still hoping for “someday” to arrive so that I can finally get the chance to tackle a number of those books on my Kindle that are getting smooshed further and further down into the pile. I recognize, however, that “someday” isn’t going to be any day soon.

Anyway… I wish you a happy bookish acquiring week this week, and am sending out happy book birthday wishes to all the lovely books above. Here’s to another great week of book collecting and reading!

As always, I would love to hear what you’re hoping to add to your collection this week!

And if you have any great suggestions of “must read” books to buy that are releasing this week, please let me know!
