I received a couple of the books I was waiting on in the mail this week. One of which is actually for a giveaway, the other is one that’s going on the pile like yesterday.
I was hoping one or two other books would arrive this week, but perhaps next week will be the week. We shall see….

I received a finished copy of DESCENDANT by Lesley Livington on Thursday thanks to the awesome folks at HarperTeen for the tour I’m on this coming Monday. While my stop isn’t a review stop I’m super excited to have this book in hand a few days before its release.
I also received a copy of HELP FOR THE HAUNTED by John Searles for giveaway thanks to the team at William Morrow. I’d assisted in spreading the word about the sweepstakes as this book sounded awesome, so they sent me a copy for giveaway on the blog. Of course I’d really love to read it, but I suppose I’ll have to wait for its release on September 17th.
I did not go trolling on NetGalley or Edelweiss this week, so those two books are the only books I received. So far… I haven’t checked NetGalley for this post just yet…. But for now…
Here are the books I have in my reading pile this week.
(August 25, 2013 – August 31, 2013)
First up on the pile is DESCENDANT by Lesley Livington. I received a finished hardcopy for review from the publisher, HarperTeen, for the blog tour I’m on this week. While I don’t have a review stop for the tour, I always love to read the book prior to creating my post.
And while I may have received this pretty close to my tour date, I am definitely going to be reading it this weekend before writing up my post on Sunday night. Without a doubt. Because I’ve heard this book is even better than STARLING and I’m dying to find out what happens next. Things left off on a bit of a cliffhanger – and by “bit” I mean a steep and endless cliff – so I’m anxious to find out just what happens with Mason and Fenn.
I did take a long peek at the description and ever since then I’ve been so excited to get this book on the pile. And while it may be just a little bit later than I’d hoped, it just means the wait for the next book in the series will be shorter… at least I hope there’s a next book….

Next up on the pile is THE LIBERATOR by Victoria Scott. I actually started reading this awesome book a week or so ago, but due to life stuffs I had to hold off on finishing it. But now that it’s officially on the pile I can’t wait to see what happens with Dante, Charlie and Aspen.
I am a little wary about meeting Aspen. I adore Charlie and I’d hate to see the new girl come between her and Dante. I’d also hate to see her tempt Dante with her bad girl ways. But if the description holds true, she will definitely be doing the latter and possibly the former.
I loved getting to know both Dante and Charlie in the first book in this series and I know I’m going to love reading about them in this sequel. I just hope that there will be some happy moments amidst the angst-filled ones. And I hope that their love story won’t take too much of a turn for the worse.
As I hope to finish reading the first book on the pile before the weekend ends, I hope that I can devour this book on Monday. My fingers are most definitely crossed.

Bad boy, meet bad girl.

Wishful Thinking Reads:
I am dying to read THE WAKING DARK by Robin Wasserman. From the title to the description this book sounds like my kind of book. So dark. So creepy. So perfect. Even just the lines, “As the town begins its descent into blood and madness…” give me the chills.
Even though I have an early eARC for review, I have a few books I must read before I can even consider sneaking it onto the pile. So for now reading it is just a wish I have.
Those Left Behind:
Once again I’ve managed to leave everything behind. Though I will be reading DECEPTION this weekend and hopefully reading BLOOD OF AN ANCIENT on Wednesday. I finally managed to get myself out of my fifteen day reading slump by going off-pile to read THROUGH THE ZOMBIE GLASS by Gena Showalter which I love, love, loved.
But I am eager to read both of the books on the pile this week and catch up on last week’s pile and the pile from the week before that, too. I just need to find some time to read between blogging and Authors Are Rockstars Tour.
Hopefully, once that tour ends, and the few tours I’m working on for Rockstar Book Tours get sorted, I’ll be able to get my focus back on writing reviews. Though I’m still debating on whether or not to change up the style to make them a little less challenging for me to write.
I love blogging, I love reading and I love talking about books. But I still haven’t quite found a way to write a review that makes me love doing so.
As I have so many review books in the queue, and there are a ton of new releases I’m dying to read, hopefully I’ll find the time to get lost in at least a few books this week, even if the reads don’t end up resulting in reviews.

I spent much of last weekend moving my posts from The Annex on Blogger to The Annex on WordPress. I retired that blog and planned on simply transferring and keeping the posts housed here on Fiktshun which I back up fairly regularly. But I just couldn’t stop myself from reformatting them all, and well, that took all of last weekend and the early part of last week. So I got very little reading done and very little blogging, too.
Thankfully that’s over and the act of doing something that mind-numbing seems to have broken me out of my reading slump and I dove right into THROUGH THE ZOMBE GLASS and fell back in love with Ali, Cole, Kat, Frosty, Bronx, Reeve and Nana. (Yes! I remember their names.) Hopefully this weekend will be as productive, though I’m headed out for the day and later will be going to the movies to see “City of Bones.” So we shall see. It may prompt me to want to re-read the first three books in The Mortal Instruments.
I don’t anticipate writing any reviews this week, as I have quite a few posts to create for upcoming tours. But, who knows? Now that the Authors Are Rockstars Tour is winding down, maybe my review-writing capabilities will return to me.
Anyway… even though my lack of success is astounding, I hope that you have had and will have a successful reading week.
