Shavlin Kaur was among the 19 participants who have been selected by the Indian Government for a three-week long trip to India.

The excursion, which is paid for by the Indian Government’s Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, will involve the participants learning India mythology, its history and political landscape.

“This is my first trip to India and I am very excited and looking forward to it,” Ms Kaur said.

“As a pharmacist by profession, I’m hoping to explore and learn about the pharmacy industry in India.

“My family and friends are really excited for me and they have wished me well.”

Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Vinod Kumar said the participants were overjoyed.

“We wanted to give youths a chance to visit India to learn about their economy, culture, history and art, among other things,” Mr Kumar said.

“This is a wonderful and once in a life time opportunity and they should learn and at the same time enjoy their time in India.”

The participants leave for India tomorrow.
