Larry Warford joins Jonathan Cooper (UNC) and Chance Warmack (Alabama) to form one of the better trios of guards to enter the NFL in quite some time. Rarely does an NFL Draft produce multiple first-round guards, but 2013 looks like it could be a possible exception to that rule. While the 2012 Draft had two, it was the only one in the last decade to do so. In fact, four of the last ten Drafts failed to produce a first-round player at the position. The odds are stacked against Warford creeping into round 1, but after a thorough evaluation of his game film, it’s hard not to like him as a top-32 player.

Not all NFL people that I spoke with can offer this insight, but those who have been sitting in on draft meetings for over a decade made an interesting point to me this week. The discussions surrounding where Justin Hunter should be slotted on the draft board sounds eerily similar to those that took place when Lee Evans came out. Similar to Evans, Hunter looked like a potential top ten pick in 2011 before tearing the ACL in his knee and reminded some of Randy Moss with his big play ability and knack for making tough catches. However, in 2012 Hunter did not show the same explosiveness and elite speed that he did before the injury and dropped way too many passes. The question teams are trying to answer is whether Hunter will eventually return to his pre-injury form as Evans did, or will he be the player he was in 2012 throughout his NFL career. We have been told not to be shocked if some team, perhaps Baltimore as they did with Jamal Lewis, takes a gamble and uses their first round pick on Hunter.

New Jacksonville Jaguars quarterbacks coach Frank Scelfo recently made a statement that would have been heresy in 2012, but actually makes a bit of sense in 2013 -- and shows just how questionable the 2013 quarterback draft class really is. 23-year old Jags quarterback Blaine Gabbert is going into his third NFL season, but would have been in this rookie class had he redshirted and stayed for his senior year at Missouri. And according to Scelfo, Gabbert would have been the best quarterback in the 2013 draft order.

Prior to 2009, the brash and confident corner was a wide receiver at Stanford University.
