The Seahawks must take their show on the road - Seahawks News - MyNorthwest.com
After my retirement from the NFL in 1995 – or should I say when the NFL threw me a surprise retirement party – I missed a lot of things about being a professional football player. I always had a shoe contract and never paid for shoes, so that first trip to the mall to buy them was painful. Not being around the guys in the locker room and out on the field was depressing. Not having an outlet for my frustration and adrenaline was difficult.

Study football players long enough and it becomes clear that we all make assumptions about what they can and cannot do. ProFootballWeekly.com - Seahawks at no loss in terms of leaders
"It’s a very interesting question," the observer said. "You’d probably have to consider the team captains — (C) Max Unger (on offense) and (DE) Red Bryant (on defense), who provides a humongous presence. But I would also have to include (featured back) Marshawn Lynch. While he’s not really a leader, he has been the guy who sets the tempo for the other players with the amazing things he’s able to do. "You’d also have to put (FB/special-teams ace) Michael Robinson in that boat, too. He’s a co-captain on special teams, but he’s usually the guy in the middle of the pack screaming and yelling — him and Bryant, who’s been doing that forever. "I think it’s all those guys together."

BQBL: Ryan Lindley Continues the Cardinals Tradition - The Triangle Blog - Grantland
Three-and-Out Cardinals (Lindley and Skelton), 100 points: Imagine you are John Skelton, starting quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals, and you’re in Atlanta facing off against Matt Ryan and the 8-1 Falcons. The Falcons start with the ball, and on the first play from scrimmage Matty Ice throws an interception. You turn that into a touchdown. The Falcons then go three-and-out, and you turn that into a field goal. After a couple more first-quarter picks from Matty Ice (yes, he had three), the quarter runs out, you are up 13-3 against the 8-1 Falcons, and you’re starting to say, "Hey, Skelly (he calls himself Skelly), you can do this!" Then head coach Ken Whisenhunt says, "No, you can’t do this," and puts in Ryan Lindley. Ken Whisenhunt just decided that instead of John Skelton, he was going to play a quarterback who has thrown as many NFL passes as you have, and he did this with a 10-point lead.
