Thoughts on Seattle’s loss & Ryan Mallett interview " Seahawks Draft Blog
The Seahawks can be a frustrating team to watch. Unbeaten at home, they’ve flirted with winning all of their road games too. It’s that little tease that makes it so hard to take. This one was particularly difficult given it was the defense – not the offense – that was most culpable.

New York Giants just find ways to win, Dallas Cowboys do not - NFL.com
" I mentioned on Sunday morning that teams are interested in Seahawks receiver Braylon Edwards, and it does make sense if Seattle would be willing to deal the veteran. He's only marginally helping the Seahawks (eight catches for 74 yards and a touchdown), he could adapt to any system and Seattle could gain some value. A trade might not be a bad idea.

Silver linings: Seahawks at Lions - NFC West Blog - ESPN
Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson led a 12-play, 87-yard drive to the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Wilson completed 25 of 35 passes for 236 yards with two touchdowns and no sacks. His Total QBR score (93.7 out of 100) trailed only those for Tom Brady (98.4) and Matt Ryan (95.7) through the afternoon games Sunday. This was Wilson's best NFL performance in a road game, and perhaps overall.

Carroll also said that Ben Obomanu is seeing a specialist for his sprained wrist, and Braylon Edwards is having his swollen knee examined further. "The initial look at it is he doesn’t have any damage to his knee," Carroll said about Edwards. "He has a knee that’s worn on. And so it responded for whatever reason to this trip, and we’ll see what that means."

Seattle Seahawks can't defend 28-24 loss to Detroit Lions | Seattle Seahawks - The News Tribune
Considered the Seattle Seahawks’ strength, the defense couldn’t muster a stop when it was needed against strong-armed Detroit quarterback Matthew Stafford. After Seattle rookie quarterback Russell Wilson directed yet another fourth-quarter touchdown drive to put the Seahawks ahead, the much-talked about defense failed to make it stick, resulting in a 28-24 setback to the Lions at Ford Field on Sunday afternoon.

2012 NFL Grades, Week 8: Jets fail again, and it might be Tebow Time - CBSSports.com
Excellent effort from Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson had a very good game as well. Surprisingly, this loss is on the defense -- they picked Matt Stafford once and sacked him twice, but they also gave up three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown to the Lions quarterback. Thrilling end to the game, but Seattle wasted a good offensive effort on the road.

Nine really random things and whatever else is going on around the NFL… - NFL.com
. How can you not love Seahawks CB Richard Sherman? Dude changed his Twitter name to Optimus Prime in anticipation for his much-anticipated rumble with Megatron this week when they play the Lions. He trash-talked Tom Brady on Twitter after his team took down the Patriots. Oh, and according to ProFootballFocus.com, he’s one of the league’s highest-performing CBs. That’s how you do it. That’s how you make a name for yourself. You talk trash, play your butt off, talk more trash, then shut another guy down. Sherman puts up, then doesn’t have to shut up. Obviously big test this week, and one wonders if he woke a sleeping giant in Lions WR Calvin Johnson. But CBs have to have a certain mentality, able to exist on an island and have the confidence to not worry about getting beat. Well, Sherman has the confidence. And he’s really learned the one way to draw people’s attention to Seattle: Shout. That’s what he’s done, essentially shouting to the NFL that we should pay attention to him. And so, we will. I have no doubt that Sherman is pissing some people off with his brash ways. Who cares? Talk all the trash you want if you’re gonna bring it. Plus, he’s a West Coast guy who got up early to be on NFL AM. So, you gotta love that.

Who is Virgil Green? | The Rookie Scouting Portfolio
Virgil Green’s 3-catch, 44-yard debut (with 5:34 left in the game) with Peyton Manning might be a surprise to some. However, the tight end from Nevada is a well-known stash for those who get the Rookie Scouting Portfolio publication each April. I don’t know if Green will be an option once Joel Dreessen returns from his injury but he is a talent to keep an eye on despite the fact that his draft status didn’t match my evaluation and Julius Thomas was the more regarded prospect. His performance was indicative of what I saw from him as a collegian. Below is my evaluation of Green prior to the 2011 NFL Draft.

Vick Ballard, Tim Jennings, Michael Vick, more Week 8 thoughts - Peter King - SI.com
13. Seattle (4-4). If I were Seattle GM John Schneider, I'd call Chiefs GM Scott Pioli, and ask if there's any way he'd dump Dwayne Bowe for a fourth-round pick. And if he would, which I doubt, I'd be a buyer. You might say that Bowe could be a free agent after the season, and why would the Seahawks spend a fourth- on a guy they could lose after the season? Simple. They'd franchise him if they couldn't reach a long-term deal, and that would give Seattle one season of a quality receiver (plus one-half of a shaky season this year, depending how quickly he could pick up at least some of the Seahawks offense) for, say, the 115th player in the draft. I'd do it.

ProFootballWeekly.com - Ponder struggling but will not be benched by Vikings
"What I like is his resiliency, the fact he's been able to stand in there. He's taken a couple of shots," Frazier said following the loss to the Buccaneers. "He's also delivered some big plays for us. And that is what's been impressive for me. "I know he's going to have some ups and downs because of where he is at this stage of his career. But to see him bounce back the way I expect him to bounce back, that's what has been impressive."

Stafford's Critics Stifled - The Morning After - Rotoworld.com
Just when you were ready to clear up your Stafford infection by trading him for a box of day old donuts (for the penicillin), he passes for 352 yards and three touchdowns, while also running one in. Of course he did this against the worst pass defense in the league, so, wait what? It wasn’t the Saints? The Seahawks you say? Hmm, let me check here, whoa, they had given up five passing touchdowns all season and Tom Brady is the only quarterback to throw for more than one? And besides Brady they had faced Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo, and Cam Newton? Well heck, that’s not too shabby.
