The Selangor Heritage Photo Carnival, held on the Kota Klang Bridge was dedicated to inspiring photos of Selangor in 24 hours, taken by the people themselves. This was the first time visiting the carnival but the second time held by Tourism Selangor. Honestly I didn't know this festival existed until Tourism Selangor highlighted that the winning photos from #TSDayOut will be displayed to the public. That means one of my photos which was taken in Kuala Kubu Baru would be up somewhere in the carnival.

Secondly, they have also published a book called #TSDayOut Volume 1: Tales & Other (Mis)Adventures which was shot by participants of #TSDayOut in Pulau Ketam, Kuala Kubu Bharu, Broga, Hulu Langat & Kuala Selangor. This book is open for pre-order at RM98 (104 pages). For more info, you can email or buzz Tourism Selangors' FB page. Meanwhile have a look at the teaser of the book which I will be buying as well (yippeee!).

Loving the cover already. (Photos by Tourism Selangor FB Page)

Okay now back to the Selangor Heritage Photo Carnival. After searching for the bridge and stumbling upon other good things in Klang, we finally made it at the location. The launch had happened in the morning with YB Elizabeth Wong officiating the event together with the media & public. With a string of activities happening the entire day, including the monthly #TSDayOut in Klang, it kept a lot of people especially the photography enthusiasts, occupied.

We made it to the right place finally, Kota Klang Bridge.

Surprisingly nice view of the mosque from the Kota Klang Bridge. The sky was perfect too.

How creative and original of Tourism Selangor to utilize a bridge as the festival location. We started with the 24 hours photographs which had every hour of situation in Selangor even at 3am. The photos were just gobsmackingly good and I am not being biased here. My mother who was with me for the event was so surprised at the beautiful photos. She didn't even know that Selangor had such beautiful spots such as Sekinchan, Broga Hill, Kuala Kubu Baru and even Bukit Malawati. These were captured by us, the normal everyday people. It is true what they say about how a photograph says a lot about the perspective of the photographer in a unique way.

Plenty of good images of Selangor were displayed on the bridge.

Photos from the amazing photographers who captured Selangor in their own perspective.

This was my mums' favourite photo. She was so surprised that this was Sekinchan.

Selangor in 24 hours captured in different lenses.

There were many activities throughout the day such as Model Shoot Contest, Heritage Walk Photo Hunt, Clickrrr! Race on the bridge, performances  by KPop Dance and Dua Space. There were also activities for the kids such as face painting, frame colouring contest and puzzle contest to keep them entertained. I didn't get a chance to watch or take part in all of the activities because we were only able to stay for a little bit before heading off to the next destination.

Messages of love to the earth from the public.

We did however, managed to catch the contemporary dance performance by Dua Space which was truly dramatic and captivating. Their expressions were so focused to the rythm of the song which made me want to dance too! Most of the photographers took this opportunity to capture the movement. I wish I had a camera that's fast enough to snap the quick moves by the dancers.

The dancers from Dua Space doing their contemporary dances..

I can never do this no matter how hard I try!

Continuing where we left off, we walked to the end of the bridge, passing the rest of the booths which offered photography equipment and consultations. We couldn't find the photos of #TSDayOut until we walked back to the where we started and stopped at Tourism Selangors' booth. There were many brochures, flyers and souveniers on hand at the booth together with packages to local sites. These information were useful for travelers like me who wish to make the best out of Selangor (by going for weekend getaways that is).

Pick a brochure, any brochure for a weekend adventure in Selangor.

Finally we found the photos of #TSDayOut which were displayed at the Tourism Selangor booth. Let me just tell you this, the idea of having a day out with the public is a really good thing because it's one way of getting people to see for themselves the kind of places Selangor has to offer and to be able to share it with friends. We tend to overlook theses spots even though we've lived here for many years. I for one have learned so much by being part of the #TSDayOut troop during our trip to Kuala Kubu Baru, learning about the history of the place as well as the adventure that comes with it. Being one of the winners for the mini photo contest was also a nice bonus. Their engagement with the public proved to increase the awareness of places of  interest in Selangor.

The photos from participants of #TSDayOut were nicely displayed here.

Found my photo here but I thought we were in Kuala Kubu Baru when we took this. He he.

Kudos to Tourism Selangor for this event and it doesn't end there. To be involved with Tourism Selangor or to find more about interesting places to visit in my lovely state, you can visit their offical website or FB page. I promise they don't bite. :)
