I’m always a sucker for soft yarn, geometric designs, and a good story. Which is why Pom Pom’s first book, Take Heart, with 8 new patterns from Fiona Alice, drew me in immediately. The patterns chronicle Fiona’s transatlantic life, as she travels between Halifax, Canada and London, England.

The yarns and designs used throughout the book represent from different places along the author’s journey. One of my personal favorites is the Martinique Beach Cowl (pictured below), as I am definitely a sucker for SweetGeorgia’s stunning colorways and perfect stitch definition. It was a perfect choice to represent the stunning sunsets of the longest beach in Nova Scotia. I can also imagine knitting this up in cozy Cumbria from The Fibre Company!

Sometimes, there is attraction in the simplicity of a project, which is true of the Lunenburg Harbor socks. The contrast toes and heels create clean lines so that the yarn is able to shine on it’s own. I can imagine many evenings curled up with my knitting, while wearing these socks knit out of something crazy soft like Woolfolk TYND.

But don’t take my word for it! Right now you can come into the shop to see the designs for yourself, and fall in love with each design. Read more about this amazing book at the Pom Pom Magazine blog.
