After an abnormally protracted process we are pleased to present the last of three Issues drawn from a general call at the end of 2014, Issue 27 : Network War/Conflict. We would like to thanks our authors for sticking with us over unexpected delays and postponements and hope you’ll agree this issue was worth waiting for.

In many ways this issue brings with it the beginning of the end of an era as the FCJ editorial executive has made a decision that the function and project of The Fibreculture Journal as an ‘activist’ demonstration of the potential for independent open access academic publishing is largely complete. There are other battles that need fighting, other projects calling out for attention, other more radical experiments calling our name.

We may continue to publish here on this site – but starting from 2017 the process and form of publishing will change significantly and we will be publishing a lot less, a lot more selectively.

We will publish two more issues over 2016 which will signal the last of The Fibreculture Journal’s publishing under the current model.

Both are exciting. Computing the City edited by Armin Beverungen and Florian Sprenger and Creative Robotics edited by Petra Gemeinboeck, Jill Bennett and Elena Knox.

We hope you enjoy FCJ27 Network War/Conflict.
