The Cotton Tail Slouch is a stylish slouch hat crocheted in elegant gray with a fun faux fur pom pom.  This is a great hat to keep you cozy and just neutral enough to match pretty much anything too!

How To Make A Pom Pom

Single Crochet Two Together (sc2tog)

Instructions:

Ch 54.  In the chain farthest from the hook, work a sl st.
Round 1: Ch 3 and work a dc in each chain.  Join to close round with a sl st.
Round 2: Ch 3 and work a fpdc (front post double crochet) in each dc.  Join with a sl st to close round.
Round 3: Ch 2 and work a hdc in each st.  Join with a sl st to close round.

Repeat round 3 until hat measures about 9 inches tall.

Decrease round 1: ch 1 and sc2tog in each st.  Join with a sl st to close round.
Decrease round 2: Repeat round 1
Fasten off leaving a 12 inch tail.

Finishing and Assembly:

Turn hat inside out and thread tail at top of hat with a tapestry needle.  Whip stitch the top of hat and pull tail snug to draw the top together.  Fasten off with a secure knot or two.  Weave in ends.

If you'd like to add a pom pom, you can make one yourself or you can put a faux fur pom pom on top like I did.  For either pom pom, be sure you have two tails to tie it onto the hat.  Tie to top of hat and weave both tails in.  Here's a helpful video if you need help attaching your hat.
