Renowned Muslim scholar and philanthropist Fethullah Gulen in his op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal urged Muslims to be aware and stand against “totalitarian ideology”. Fethullah Gulen is well-known for his ideas promoting dialogue and peace-building. at a time when the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL, aka ISIS) continues its carnage in the Middle East. According to him any type of terrorist violence carried out in the name of Islam negatively affects all Muslims. Therefore all Muslims should join efforts to confront religious radicalism, which is according to him a “social cancer.”
